Thanks to those who recommended the Boathouse in Central Park
      #491582 - 22/10/2009 22:43

Can I give a huge, huge thank you to those who recommended the Boat House in Central Park for our 40th Wedding Anniversary meal. We came back from New York yesterday having had the most wonderful (and dearest) ever meal there. Everything was perfect. The staff were more than attentive, and the food was out of this World. Despite having no change out of £250, we both enjoyed it so much. It was the best meal ever, and worth every penny. Also with the background of the beautiful lake, simply bliss. Thanks again

Glad you enjoyed your wedding anniversary meal. Was that cost just for two of you in the evening? Did you find out about the dress code before you went?

We are going to New York at the end of November and were considering going to the Boathouse.

Hi Pam. Yes that was the price for the meal for 2 of us. Don't despair though. As it was our 40th Anniversary we really did pull out all the stops. We had a bottle of champaign and there were lots of cheaper dishes on the menu, but we thought that, with it being so special, we just didn't care how much it cost. If you go onto Google and put in "Boathouse in Central Park", it will put you onto their website and then click on menus for the Lakeside which also gives you the prices for each dish. At the bar we had a G&T and also a Bacardi and Coke and the cost was 18$. As no traffic is allowed in the park after 5.00pm at weekend or 7pm Sat/Sun there is a little coach which will pich you up at the junction of 5th Avenue and 72nd street. Its a free ride but we gave the driver 2$ tip. This is also shown on the website. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Please let me know how you go on. If you have never been to NY before, I can give you lots of tips.
Best wishes

Sheila

Gosh - what a relief!
Swanlake - so so glad you had as good an experience at the Boathouse as we did for my OH's 60th birthday in September - you are right it was expensive [have just seen the conversion in this month's CC statement!!] but worth it!! Like you it was a very special day and we enjoyed champagne, a lovely wine, and didn't want to spoil the enjoyment of the occasion by worrying about the cost [well - on this occasion anyway!] Glad the recommendation made your day!
