For anyone thinking about their first cruise...
      #487002 - 15/10/2009 21:20

I have just come back from my first ever cruise...absolutely loved it. We went to the eastern Mediterranean on the Celebrity Equinox and it was totally fabulous. Beautiful ship, great food and service and you wake up somewhere different every day without the hassle of packing and unpacking. Went to the Dead Sea in Isreal....amazing and the pyramids in Egypt....stunning and much more! It's a great way to see all those places you dreamed about but never thought you would have the time to get to. It was so great that we have booked another for next year! If you haven't cruised before but think you might like it my advice is give it a try....you will love it!

Sounds fantastic, I would love to try a cruise but noone in the faamily is interested. I did a day trip to Egypt from Cyprus last year and that was an experience. A place I never imagined I would see.

When I was 10 we emigrated to Australia and spent 6 weeks travelling there by boat, 2 years later we spent 6 weeks coming back by boat. I loved the experience so exciting changing worlds every day and so many places tosee.

Am tempted by the cruises after others enjoyment comments however concerned about all the pre shopping trips to get the wardrobe right for on board events!

tulip,
Well the thing I learnt from our first cruise last May, is that you really don't need lots of different clothes...there are so many people you don't tremember what anyone wore before.
My friend told me this and I didn't believe her.
We've booked our second one for next year and I will take just one long evening dress for two formal evenings, and i may wear different pashminas to make for a different look, but would take far less clothes than the first time.
Don't let it put you off...we went with open minds and loved every minute of the cruise.

I would love to go on a cruise, waking up every morning in a different country. All those wonderful sun rises to enjoy.

But and it is a BIG but, Mr F. has no interest in cruising. We have never been, but he thinks he would be stuck on a ship with a lot of boring people, unable to get off, no room. I think he is basing his opinions on those river boat discos which were very popular in the 80s / 90s!!!

Foxie,
It's such a shame your Oh won't give it a try, because i had exactly his concerns.
But we went on Independence of the Seas, with Royal Carribean, and it's so big (14 decks) that there is always a quiet corner, and having done that cruise, I now know that i could be on a ship for a week without getting off, 'cos there is so much to do.

Perhaps I could persuade him to go on a 'weekend' cruise and gradually build up from there?

My OH had same concerns Foxie, but he really enjoyed the first cruise we went on with Ocean Village. It was a very casual cruise ship and no dressing up was necessary. You sat where you wanted and was not put on a table with people you didn't want to talk to. You certainly will not be stuck on the ship all the time, as we went on shore practically every day and only stayed on the ship in the evening. There was one day in the week of sailing and the rest was done over night while we slept; When you were on the ship there was no lacking in things to do and if you pay a little extra you can get a cabin with a personal balcony to get away from everone else.
