Hi All,
Just finished reading 'The Information Officer' by Mark Mills, a murder/mystery.
The book is set in Malta during WW2 and follows the main character Max an 'information officer' trying to follow up on the murders of local Maltese women. Max's job is to keep up the morale of all troops. With suspicions about the murderer being British, Max steps in to try to find the true identity of the murderer to keep the peace between the British and Maltese troops.
I didnt think there was much mystery in this book, being honest. The descriptions and detail about Malta during WW2 were good and informative as I dont think it has had as much coverage, but I didnt really rate the book highly unfortunately! It seemed to take a long time to get were it was going, if that makes any sense!
Just wondering if anyone else has read this to see what they thought?

No Jenin, you haven't at all! I know many of our members lurk here and don't post, and I didn't want to pre-empt our meeting by adding my comments. I'm sure there will be lots more come Thursday!

Hi Jenin,
Well, we all found the book informative about the role Malta played during WW2. Although we were all aware that it was a military base, we weren't quite so aware of it significance in the Mediterranean. Some enjoyed the story, but many had the same opinion as you - that it wasn't much of a story. In particular the ending was a bit of a damp squib - we all felt a bit let down by that.
