Dublin Part 2
      #484682 - 12/10/2009 19:37

Thank you to everyone who suggested what we might do at the weekend. Sadly we didn't get to do nearly enough. My daughter and I were there for her boyfriend's funeral which was dreadful, as was to be expected. We arrived on the Friday hoping to have a fun-filled day of sight seeing and shopping, but on top of everything else she got her period, very badly, and was in agony as well as being heartbroken. Plus the rain was incessant! Anyway, our hotel was lovely which was something. We took the bus to the centre and at least I and her two friends had a nice lunch (thanks Oopsi_daisy - went to Avoca and it was divine). But she felt so miserable that we just took the bus straight back afterwards!

The next day, after the funeral, there was a shindig at the local hurling club which was amazing as there was a match, or series of matches, going on. What a fabulous game. That night the "wake" carried on at a bar called the 12th Lock (I think). Gorgeous place.

We found the Dublin people really lovely - kind, warm and attractive. Everyone was so lovely to us. I really want to go back and next time will certainly stay in the centre. Or at the airport!! What amazing shops!!

Thanks again ladies

love Rachel
