Have I got the courage to go to weightwatchers
      #414384 - 29/06/2009 10:49

Am not very confident about walking into that room alone and making a committment to lose weight.
Will I be throwing money away or is it really easy to lose weight with a group?
Any tips, advice or indeed a local weight loss buddy will be welcome.
I live in the Whitley Bay area.

That first step is always the most difficult. The people at WW were not at all judgemetal, and I found that once I went I had the determination to succeed.

I also lost wiehgt with slimming World.

Just give it a try - good luck.

I think it is the only way. Everyone there is in the same boat so nobody judges anyone. The sooner you start the better you will feel. Good luck.

Give it a go. You've nothing to lose, only the weight you want to shift. The majority of the people there will have felt exactly like you.
I went to Sureslim last year and have gonefrom a size 24 to a 12 or 14, depending on cut and style. God knows how I'd have coped in this heat carrying what amounted to an extra body around. Sureslim is a one to one session, with a diet based on a blood test and doctor's guidance. It was expensive to pay up front for a year but that kept me on track as I didn't want to waste the money. When broken down to a weekly payment though it was probably the same cost as weekly sessions at weight watchers or slimming world.
Do give it a go though. I'm sure you'll find lots of encouragement, guidance and support from the forum.
Good luck.

This is my first ever message, I have only just signed up so here goes.
I joined weight watchers after gaining 4 and a half stone following lots of steroid tratmenr for my MS.
I have been at my goal now for 6 months, I still go once a month to weigh in as I find this keeps me in check.
Sign up to their monthly pass, it works out cheaper and because you pay by dierect debit, I found this made me stick to the plan as I didn't want to waste the money I had allready paid.
GO FOR IT!!
If i can do it with my addiction to chocolate any one can,
and I found my class very welcoming and I made some new friends.
Good Luck xx

Hello Marywil - haven't seen you before so welcome to the forum. My mum goes every week to WW and I have followed one of the diet plans myself. Like every diet it is hard work but it actually does work for me and my mum. Go for it Marywil and let us know how you get on.

Welcome too to kazzie - why don't you post a 'newbie' post on the 'Your Lives' section - most people will see it there.

Kez x

Weightwatchers, Slimming World, Rosemary Conley..it doesn't matter.

You need to do 2 things.

Firstly, you need to WANT to lose weight. Not just think you need to, or it would change your life, or it's a quick fix.

Secondly, it's not a diet. It's not a slimming thing. It's a lifestyle change.

It's a rethink your life, your eating habits.

It's taken me years and diets to get to this state - but I've lost 3 stone, very slowly, eating well, and still drinking wine!

Sliiming Clubs cheer a big weight losse each week, but that is hard to sustain, then you feel you have failed, so you comfort eat.

Half a pound a week is nearly 2 stone a year - and you can do that without any real sacrifice to your lifestyale.

Good luck -AND ENJOY THE DIET!!!! Asparagus and glass of wine - perfect.!

Hi Marywil

Do it, everyone there is in the same boat as you and the leader will look after you if you're nervous. I joined WW in January and I've lost 20lb this year with a holiday in the middle of it. I always stay for the meetings and know that's what keeps me going.

I joined Weight Watchers just over four weeks ago and have lost 9 1/2 pounds so far (loads to go yet though!!). I have also lost weight with weight watchers in the past.

The biggest hurdle is getting in the right mind set to do it. It can be a bit daunting when you first walk in, but remember, every person there have walked in for the first day once!

It is really easy to follow (I am using my daughters ww kitchen scales - they cost a lot but are worth every penny - they work it all out for you) and you can eat plenty. I have a glass of wine most evenings and never feel hungry. Its what you are eating that matters.

Take that first step and good luck to you - you will never look back!

Its the onlyway I can do it - joining a club, although I do not shout out what my weight is to start, and I dont let them know if I have put weight on.

Lost 5 1/2 pounds in two weeks. BUT. I had my teeth out last week and now have a set of top dentures ( Had an accident when a microphone hit me in the mouth)
I think that is a bit extreme, but eating is the last thing I am interested in at the moment.

Good time to go to WW though. Let's hope I can keep it up.

I LOOOOOve my food, dont you
