I think there are 3 magic numbers that help me move more, they are 10,15,and 20. !0 is for the just 10 minutes rule ie if I'm lacking in motivation I tell myself I will do something for just 10 minutes and stop at that if I don't want to continue.I usually carry on after that time because once I've started something it is much easier to keep going.I'm also usually enjoying myself once I've overcome my initial inertia. For our new members I'd recommend 10 minute Boogie sessions, play some music and dance like a maniac for 10 minutes. It's guaranteed to raise your spirits and give you a real boost.
15 is for the number of exercise repetitions that are needed to have and effect on the muscle groups we are targeting. The instructor at the gym I went to told me this ,if it's incorrect I apologise ,but it's what I work to.I have been trying to do at least 2 sets of 15 Squats per day to target my flabby thighs plus the same number of arm exercises and sit ups to tone up my other problem areas.Do ing these takes very little time and can be slotted in whenever you have a tiny bit of free time.
20 is a very special number for me It's the age difference between my OH and me.He is 20 years younger so that helps motivate me to make an effort to keep fit and active. If you haven't got a toy boy have fun looking for one or work on the model you've got so he looks and acts 20 years younger when you've finished with him!! If you are very young adjust the figures accordingly lol Enjoy your day everyone. Decx

Hi Dec Thanks for this, I will remember these numbers. It is amazing how many push ups you can do whilst waiting for the kettle to boil isn't it? All these little bits of exercise do add up too. Foxie x.

Twinkle its 15 Squats X 2 sets. However 15 minutes of squats would make a huge difference very quickly ,so you go ahead and do that.LOL
Gilley you need to do squats to get that man you want. He'll be so toned and hunky that it would be rude not to have mega toned thighs! Besides I'm running out of ideas on what to post ,so you'll have to make do with squats for now.And I think you don't need help from me getting your man ,read this month's W&H and try Sugar Daddies dating site,or we will put you on Sarah Beeny's site if you want us too.All FFs and MMs could post about you.Just say the word and it will be done.
Foxie,I think you are the only one taking me seriously. You will reap the rewards of your efforts and then the others will be sorry that they didn't listen to us.

Hi dec and all!
A long walk was planned for OH and me today, were going to take picnic and be gone for the day (child-free weekend for us). Saw the weather forecast this morning - thunder storms for the Midlands - and changed our plan to a shorter walk this morning.
Enjoyed it, walked from home along the canal (stopping for coffee and scones!). Apart from a spot of rain at about 5pm, the weather has been lovely, so we could have stuck to plan a - grrrr! Still managed 10,000 steps target though (just).
Love the Magic Numbers advice, but will replace squats with exercises for my muffin top!

Thank you dec, I have a vision of you and me in our kitchens squatting while the kettle boils. By the end of the summer we will be out and about flashing our perfect, flab free thighs (not that we will be boasting of course!). Our thighs will just flash themselves!
Gem17 - good luck with the muffin top exercises. At Pilates we do the following exercise. Stand up straight, feet together and facing forward, weight evenly balanced. Arms are straight down your sides, with fingers together and pointing towards the floor. Bend sideways towards the right and stretch your right hand down your right leg. Hold for the count of 5 and repeat 5 times. Then switch sides and repeat on the other side.

Thanks Foxie. I do Pilates too, but the exercise I was thinking of was one lying on my back - will try yours too.
I also have IBS, but I'm following a list kindly given to me by amelica2 to help control this, but when I lapse it's more bloating than 'muffin top'. Ultimate aim is to get fit by moving more though, and if I lose a few pounds on the way that will be a bonus!

Hi everyone, I love the magic numbers, I do squats with 2 soft spikey balls between me and the wall, they help the achey back. One can dream of a toy boy but I don't think I'd have enough energy for one in real life!!!
Managed to go swimming today in the hydro pool and really enjoyed stretching and moving there. Not too busy either so lots of space to swim/jog etc. Have to do ironing now so will try and do some pilates at the same time. Have a good time with your sister Dec and I hope the weather is kind to you. Cecilia
