I am having a mid week break in cheshire and we may visit Liverpool, if the weather is wet - Looked at website and information not very good.

It will only be for the day so what should we see and do, other than the shops - Do they have a city tour bus, for example?

H there Brandyqueen. Liverpool has changed such a lot in the last few years. The Albert dock is interesting. I think they still have a Beatles museum there. Also a maritime museum. Also the Cavern Quarter is good fun. The Walker Art gallery is popular, and there is another museum called the museum of life, which is near St georges hall/plateau. Lpool is a small city, and most places are close by in the city centre. there is an undergroun loop system.
Hope you enjoy your visit. There is a great atmosphere to the city now, and the people are always friendly.
Used to live in Liverpool, now live in Cheshire, so if there is anything you would like to know, don't hesitate.

Hi BQ!

We've been to Liverpool a few times now, we really like it. Cowleygirl is right, everything is close by so take your walking legs and just have a wander.

We went for the day last August Bank Holiday to check out the Super Lambananas and found there was a music festival on, something in every square - it was so good we planning on going back for it this year.

Seem to remember the tourist information office was really helpful too.

Have a fantastic time.x

Thank you Cowleygirl and Patsy.

Definetly fancy the Walker Art Gallery, and the Cavern quarter.

I live less than 10 miles away from Liverpool and was shopping there yesterday - if you've got time this is the tour you should go on.

Apparently Bob Dylan went on it when he played in the city recently and no one recognised him!

Agree about the Duck tour - good fun and very informative. Museum well worth a visit as well.

Had a great day there recently - hadn't been for many years and really enjoyed it.

I live about 14 miles away, used to live in the city in my twenties..and I love it!
There is lots to do, as others have said,..art galleries,(The walker and the Tate), Maritime Museum, National Museum, the Yellow Duck tour, open topped bus tour, Beatles Museum, Magical Mystery (Beatles ) tour, Speke Hall (about 5 miles from the city)...and ...of course...

...the Ferry 'Cross the Mersey!!

I am certain there is a tour bus but it is easy to do your own tour of Liverpool if you map it out first. Take in the Docks, cathedral and Scottie Rd, Walton jail, Anfield and Goodison Park. There is some fabulous architecture and a wealth of history but if you take in the areas above you will get the FULL FLAVOUR!

Like everywhere, you need to go back there's so much to see.The Liver building, all the architecture, including the modern buildings.
I went to the cavern and Albert Dock earlier on in the year, and (shh)there are some fabulous SHOPS too but there wasnt enough time to do them justice.
Port Sunlight is worth a look at,but you would need to stay over for that
.
