Question; If youare taking drugs that say on the paperwork, can cause skin cancer, use sun blocks,do you think this means Total sun block and to cover up completely? I have started to wear 50+ total sun block for sun sensitive skin, but do i hav e to cover up as well, when it was nice the week-end i was sitting outside looking like i had just come from Siberia,Not only that it makes you so uncomfortably hot and sweaty, and really spoils the appeals of nice summer days.If so i really dont know what i am going to do when i go abroad soon.I'm taking immuno suppressant drugs, and now frightened to even go out the door without my skin beeing plastered with sun block. anyone know please. Thanks Trish

Hi Trish
Maybe you need some professional medical advice on this? It's a reasonable question to check out with your doctors.
Just a thought... in Italy all the Japanese tourists walked around carrying parasols, both men and women. It might feel a little strange at first but if it was me I'd go for it. As well as the sun-block....
I'm sure you'll clear this up and enjoy your holiday!

Hello Trish
Not seen you for a while - hope you are ok.
Your local pharmacist will be able to give you advice. And, like scottishmags said, I actually used an umbrella at an athletics meeting my son had to go to on Tuesday afternoon. It was SO hot, it really helped having the brolly up and stopped me from burning too.

I've used an umbrella loads of times,it works really well, and feels a lot more comfortable than covering up when it's hot

An umbrella sounds a great idea..why not treat yourself to a pale coloured pretty one that would look nice on a summers day. I lived in Aus were most people wear hats in the sun..i would really recommend a good one....it also stops your hair from drying out. I wear alot of linen in the summer. Why not get a few pairs of linen trousers, they are really comfortable and cool to wear and look good too.I think (but check this out) if you get really close weave fabric they will block out most of the suns rays, though not all
