Please stop this excessive advertising on our forum!!!!!
      #353870 - 11/03/2009 18:04

I have returned to the forum after a few weeks break only to find that new advertising dominates every page. It is impossible to scroll through posts without inadvertently enlarging and activating a flashing advert. These often obscure what I am trying to read, and all the relaxed pleasure of using the forum has gone.

The W&H team glean numerous ideas and articles from our participation in this forum (I was featured in March issue) and in my view, many will be put off using it by the complete disregard of W&H for the many users who have complained continually about this subject. Lets have your comments please W&H!!

How I agree!

The one which is soooo annoying and rude is the arrow thing which shoots across the page. What's that about then? Haven't read it but it's about as courteous as standing in front of the TV when someone's watching their favourite programme - not very!

And, as I've posted elsewhere, the other effect of all the animations is to make the site extremely slow; it's the slowest forum I've ever used, in fact!

So, as a 'newbie' who joined a week or so ago, I'm off - it's just too much like hard work!

Blaise xx

I too have been off the forum for a while (been ill and just didn't feel like doing anything!)

I came back to find everything has changed - not for the better I might add. The page size has shrunk and I'm being driven mad by all the adverts (moving and still) that appear on the side of the screen, as well as the ones that pop up in the middle when I'm trying to read something!

What on earth have they done?????? Why couldn't they leave well alone. It was perfectly ok as it was. (OK, it was very slow, but surely all this adverty stuff slows it down even more?)

Come on W&H get rid of all this horrible stuff and put things back as they were (not that I believe for one minute that they'll take any notice!)

You know the old saying 'If it aint broke, don't fix it'? Well they've certainly 'broke' it now!!!!

If you read that chocolate's bad for you - then it's time to give up reading!

I wish something could be done about the adverts that make it really difficult to read ppls posts, it's really annoying.

In total agreement.
I dont know about others, but the message that should be conveyed always passes me by as I am switched off by advertising.

Absolutely agree with everything that has been said. I literally could not read messages this evening because of ads blocking the text. WILL SOMEONE FROM W&H PLEASE REPLY? Or do we give up and boycott the magazine?

I have been using the forum for a while now and have never seen an advert so not sure what everyone is talking about. I have pop up blockers activated on my computer so don't know if this stops these ads but it might be worth a try if you haven't activated it on your computers.

I am a new user of the forums and have been totally put off by the moving adverts. I suffer with regular migrains and unfortunately looking at something that is constantly flickering can bring them on so It doesn't look as though I will be able to continue using the forums. I have tried sticking a sheet of paper over half of the screen but it isn't an ideal solution. It is a shame that W&H feel they have to make money out of their readers forums.

I've just posted our next supper club meeting but now half of my posting is obsolete because of the bl**dy ads...

Why do they mess around with the graphics in this unproffessional fashion
