UGG Boots I'm hooked.
      #302559 - 10/01/2009 10:25

My lovely OH gave me a pair for Christmas, a complete surprise (and also a pair for our daughter which I knew about.)

Yesterday I wore them all day, and my feet were so snug and comfy. I had thought they might overheat, but not at all.

Have any of you also got these fab boots?

I haven't got any but am seriously thinking of investing in a pair. I have a fake pair which I bought in Tescos for £10 a couple of years ago - I wear them to go to yoga and to the gym/swimming in this cold weather and love them, but they're nothing like the real thing and have also started to pong a bit! (not surprising at £10 a pair!). So I am thinking about buying some - I swore I never would but I know now that I would get good use from them.

I was given some Ugg flip flops for Christmas - they are like normal flip flops with furry soles. I'm not a slippers person but I absolutely love them, they are so comfortable to wear around the house. A great present x

RunGirl, there are good quality but not as expensive alternatives. My friend has just bought a pair by Sketchers in grey. Not sure how much they were but they are lovely. I have a pair by Just Sheepskin,I got them in a Faith shoe shop. They are the longer ones as opposed to ankle ones,in chocolate brown and cost £100.Still a lot of money, but the UGGS are £160. Mine have worn very well and kept a great shape too. We got out dad a pair of UGG slipper/shoe things for Christmas, and he hasn't taken them off! They are sooooo comfy, especially in this freezing weather. LovelyLady, I'm very jealous of you getting a pair for Christmas. Oopsi.

Hi lovelylady

I think it's fair to say that I'm hooked too - I've got 3 pairs of Ugg boots - one pair of tan suede which have now got a small hole in the toe because I wore them so much last year, a pair of grey suede ones which I only bought recently and a pair in brown leather which I keep for when it's wet. It may seem excessive to have three pairs on the go but I suffer terribly from Raynauds disease and can honestly say that even wearing them without socks (which you're meant to do) I never have cold feet.

I got a pair of ugg flip flops for christmas last year but bearing in mind how much they cost and how little I wore them in comparison to my boots I was very disappointed - the sheepskin wore down very quickly and they are now only fit for the bin. I should have taken them back because they started to show signs of wear within a few weeks - if I were you Rungirl I'd ask whoever bought yours to keep hold of the receipt just in case you have the same problem.

I think they are so Uggly and a complete rip off.It made me laugh last time I went to Westfield, they wouldn`t let people into the shop as it was busy so they had to queue up outside behind a rope like waiting to get in a nightclub and be invited in.The real ones look just as cheap as the fakes.

Hi Duckegg - the only problem I have had with mine so far is that they are black and the soles of my feet are now permanently black, presumably from the dye! The person who bought them is upset about it although I think it is quite funny (a bit embarrassing when I go swimming though) but I will keep my eye on them for wear and tear. Thanks!

I have a pair that Ibought in New York about 4 years ago (cheaper over there - then anyway) I wore them ALL winter for the first 2 years but must admit they are now only fit for dog walking now - filthy and muddy and I'm too idle to clean them. Very cosy though

Ugg boots look horrible! If you have thin legs like me you have these enormous feet and ankles and little legs protruding out the top. They are best suited to teenagers who can wear anything and get away with it.

Billow boots are made by fit flops. Same sole, but sheepskin and all warm and toasty.

I have just read in the paper that Kate Kuba, who is the main importer of Uggly boots has gone into administration and shut all the shops today.
Ozzie, there may be a new opportunity coming your way.

Hi all
I have two pairs, a black and a tan pair, like duck egg though my black ones now have holes in the toes, but I have had three winters from them. My tan pair were for Christmas and I love them but know I will get them grubby.

I have had a brown pair of sketchers, which were okay, but not as good I felt, but agree the price is silly. I suffer dreadfully with cold feet so for me they are a godsend with my jeans. I dont think they are a just for young things, either as I find them so comfortable and warm, lets face it they are just a more modern version of boots some older ladies wear.

Haven't tried Uggs, but I too recommend Billow boots. Have kept my feet nice and warm in the recent freezing weather.

The Billow boots are nicer looking than the Uggs.
I bought some M&S pink slipper ugg type boots...........if you know what I mean! I have had them for about 4 years and I bung them in the washing machine a couple of times each winter. I'm as snug as a bug in an ugg......sorry!!
Years ago, I bought some pale green nylon ski boots from C&A, I forget what they were called but they were superb, warm, waterproof, light and not the colour I would have chosen given the right opportunity.

OH has been away for the weekend, but got home early afternoon and we went shopping....obviously my talking about Ugg boots had got in his mind as he suggested we went into Office and had a look. The Uggs I liked were £170 but there was an almost identical pair by 'Just Sheepskin' which were £90 and he bought them for me! At the moment am just looking at them adoringly, but looking forward to wearing them to yoga tomorrow night.

Thanks for the tip to look at alternatives x

Hi Rungirl,

I have never heard of that brand, considerably cheaper than Uggs thats for sure.

A friend of mine had some brought back for her from Australia and they were half the price.

Unless you are at least 5'9" and tall and slim don't wear them unless you want to look like a troll............the worst culprits are the dumpy ones... yuk hence why I would'nt be seen dead in them!

I bought my daughters ugg boots on an australian web site - took about 3 weeks to arrive and they were £68 about - although because it was £2 short on customs and excise - I had to pay that and a £10 fee for Post Office - still cheaper than the shop price - well worth it - and my daughter loves them

I agree about the Fitflops - I am wearing my pink fluffy ones, I have never been a fan of slippers or Ugg boots as they as not sexy but these are keeping me warm on cold stone floors! I am sure my legs are improving by just wearing them to type this. I just wish they made them hardy enough to wear out in the mud so I could get some real exercise in them.
