D wants 2 bring me bac a gift from her trip to New York... But what?!
      #298861 - 06/01/2009 17:38

I don't truely want her spending any of her budget on me but our daughter insists she gets at least me something from her 3 days there, she flys out to the USA this Thursday and gets back to the UK on the 12/13th.

What would you suggest she could bring back for me her mum that is under £20 that is around 30 dollars?
$30 going by the exchange rate when she got her dollars at the Post Office at the end of last year.

I did think of this Bloomingdales little brown bag or a Macy's green star canvas bag would be useful but thats about all I could think of

All I really want is a text to say she arrived there safe and sound and may be a postcard

Help and ideas anyone please.

Hi DBVC

Go with little brown bag. I have a medium size one that was bought for me, and its great, stores all my folders in.
and D could borrow it, so win win situation.

I got a lovely bag from Macy's - black with gold lettering. I love it and it's well within your daughters budget!

Hi brandyqueen and Cheshire Cat and a happy new year to you both.

I like the sound of the black and gold bag C Cat. I know this may sound a bit of a silly question but what does it say in the gold lettering?

Hi Brandy Queen and Cheshire Cat,

dbverycherry,

If you like MAC makeup, it is so much cheaper in New York, there is also a really good hair range called Bumble and Bumble, I think I have got that right.

Hi there Plasmo
The MAC make up might not be a good idea as I have overly sensitive skin and hardly wear any make up but the Bumble Bumble hair stuff sounds good and has a certain buzz to it
I will sure to go and check it out in a minute on the www.
Thanks

Does anyone know of anything in the USA my daughter could buy me that would have cherries on it or may be a perfume that is out there?
As you may know from my forum post, and of course my name, I like most things to do with cherries including cherry brandy but being the USA she is to young at 19 to buy and bring alcohol back in to the UK

Bliss products are much cheaper than in the UK - the hand cream is lovely and smells divine. A lovely lemony scent...sorry, not cherries! x

Hi dbverycherry

By coincidence my daughter and her boyfriend went to New York for 5 days over Christmas and she has brought me back a Kipling purse from Macys. I wasn't expecting a gift as she had already visited us before Christmas and given me a lovely Kipling handbag - well this was the matching purse! I was thrilled with it!

I know about Macy's canvas bags because a year ago we went to New York for our anniversary and on that occasion we bought our daughter one of those. They have quite a good selection in different patterns and sizes and both the bags and my Kipling purse would be within the price range you mention.

Make up IS generally cheaper there (they have a lot of Sephora shops that stock Bare Escentuals, Smashbox, etc) but if you don't really wear much make up, maybe a bag or purse would be a better idea.

Hello Pawprint what a sweet looking kitten you have.

I will ask my daughter to see if she can find a Kipling cherry red purse as I like the look of the leather ones.
I always need a new purse each year as I often over fill them, mainly with store cards and photos, and often end up splitting at the seams.

Do you like l'Occitane products? Just returned from U.S. These were cheaper, especially in the Sales, which are on right now. If she gets to visit an Outlet Mall, there are lots of bargains to be had.

Hi there Cowleygirl not seen you here before but hello and
to this post here and to the W&H forums.

Don't think our daughter will have the time to get to an Outlet Mall unless ther is one in NY as the trip is part of her Nottingham uni fashion, marketing and branding course and they only have a total of 3 days in NY itself and she has a full and long list of work to do and research to cover in that time..
Any sort of for me right now are a no no Summer as my M&S ones that normally fit nicely are way to tight everywhere and I need to work off the extra lbs I have put on since eating far to much and then going into hibernation for the winter at end of last summer.

Daughter was so sweet she brought back fr0m New York... [Re: dbverycherry]
      #311278 - 18/01/2009 23:49

Daughter got me this bag.
I just love it and the red is very me
OH and I visited our daughter just a day after she got back to uni from New York. I was pleased and lucky enough to have it to use in Manchester last week and it features proudly in many of my photos of me up there.

She was so sweet she didn't spend all the £150 I gave her despite also buying her Nan a bag from Bloomingdales and me another bag this time one of their small Little Brown Bags.

Yes I am up late yet again and posting on here.
At least I don't get in the way and avoid the busy day time and am not so lost trying to read and catch up with the many new posts that appear each day.

Morning Perry, How has the weekend been for you?

Thanks for your thoughtful and kind remarks.

Our daughter - You can not have her as she is all ours

Mind you at one time when she was in her early teens she was a right cow At one point she was unhappy in herself and with her school and was very sh_tty towards me. At this point you would have been welcome to look after her.

That stage has now thankfully passed and she has grown and matured now at 19 she is a real pleasure to know. Of course we never stop loving our kids do we.

Of course we loved her still even back then in her angry sh_itty stage but now it is so easy and a pleasure to do so as she is, 99% of the time, 'sweet as cherry pie'
