On the coldest day
      #298558 - 06/01/2009 14:36

my central heating has to breaak down

I posted a few hours ago on the Homes board that I was concerned for my central heating. Well my fears have realised and I am now getting colder and colder. No doubt with worse to come unless I am lucky enough to find a plumber at short notice.

Oh no Glitter! I saw your post about your boiler playing up.
What good timing! Hope you manage to sort it out quickly.

Get out all your coats, duvets and hot water bottles, just in case, and don't forget to wear a hat and gloves.

Oh Gq sorry about your heating. I hate the cold, its bad enough when the heating works.

Summer how do you pout on a mummy blanket? Does it not make your mouth fluffy?

I hope you get it sorted out, otherwise nip out before the shops shut and get a few hot water bottles.

I'm warming up again now. It was the pump not the boiler.

Aprile you have my sympathy. Good old days - they can keep them! I was lucky he came so quickly. He said he can only see existing customers and can't fit anyone else in.

In victor Meldrew style "I cant believe it"

We have had to switch off our central heating - OH was concerned by the noise it was making, as it did this morning when I was initally worried about it. Sounds really loud and dangerous.

So now we are sitting here in the cold again.

Hi Glitter. Have you got it sorted yet? We're still huddled over a tiny candle trying to keep warm.

Amazingly Aprile I sorted it myself. I have a condensor boiler and after searching on the internet I found that it could be the outside pipe was frozen. At 8am this morning I was out in the garden with a kettle of hot water and a hair-dryer. Did the trick and by the time the plumber arrived it was back to normal. He said lots of people are experiencing this and altered the pipe so hopefully it wont happen again.

Hope you'll soon be warm again.
