and my house has never been so clean!!
Went for my morning walk this morning..and never fell over this time, despite the ice.OH and I also went for an hour last night....I am going to wear my legs down at this rate.
I got back and did half an hours tennis on the Wii..it is addictive as this forum...I eventually "beat" the computer..I was determined to do it today!
Also swept out and cleaned the kitchen floor..lots of elbow grease.
I have listed activities that I would like to start and my list includes ice skating (did it as a kid), dry slope skiing, ballroom dancing (got silver medals in)and more walking on the beach.
..any way I jumped on the scales this morning and I have lost 3 pounds since last week!
...sorry if this post is boring, but it really does motivate ME!!!!

How can you think it is boring...........I love to hear this sort of thing. Keep it going and if noone else wants to hear then pm me as I do!
I am afraid me and technology seem to have a mutual understanding.......it is clever and I am dim!!!! I don't know what a Wii is!!!!
I would love to do dancing but my knee won't stand up to it now. Never been interested in skiing. However I am hoping that the hosp will give me the go ahead to do Pilates as this would be so good for my stress levels, flexibility and some exercise.
Keep the posts like this coming please.....they not only motivate you but me as well.

Well done Blossom.Yesterday I managed to get my pedometer to over 10000 steps for the first time ever! Bit slow on getting started today though so I'd better get going.I'm going for a short walk with my OH each evening which is helping us both and I'm intending to give my house a bit of an early Spring clean, following Mrs Twiddler's advice. It's more fun with Forum help so keep posting it's not boring.

Well done dec, now keep it up. Everyday!!!! Too icy to walk this morning, but just off now to see if the pavements are better.
Fancy Southport beach about 7.30 on Sunday morning, Bloss. Hardly anyone about and you feel as if you are in another world. If you stick to the soft sand, gives your thighs a work out.

Keep up the good work, Blossom. I've been bending and stretching while taking down my Christmas decorations and I'm going to have a Wii Fit session later. I must put a new battery in my pedometer, dec.

Blossom well done you. You can be my inspiration after my overeating at Christmas certainly took it's toll. No calories in the "lighter than air chocolate" floated away, it stuck to my hips. I am also trying to move more.

Chilla..we usually go up to Formby point, as you can get a really good work out up and down the sand dunes!I am planning on going there sometime this weekend.
Went to a funeral this afternoon. It was an uplifting experience, although sad.My friend was such an inspiration, which shone through when people spoke about her.As she died of cancer, I have made it a resolution to get fit and healthy in her memory and maybe do the "race for life".She left behind two beautiful daughters.

I am on here early looking for inspiration/ motivation....woke up aching all over...no temperature, so i think it may be either the result of the fall I had on the ice, the jumping around I have been doing on the wii or a combination of both.At the moment I just want to go back to bed!!I have work later and will be there for the rest of the day, so I will have to get my walk in earlier today than normal, unless I go this evening with OH...
Chilla how do you get up and walk your dogs so early in this dark cold weather..what a woman!

Blossom I managed to get my 10000 steps in yesterday, and in 45 mins I aim to go for a walk with a friend, not the usual coffee and cake. So get out your pedometer and I challenge you to a 10000 step day. ( How was that, did it motivate you?) If not snuggle up in bed and think of me clicking away!LOL

hi bloss, do you think maybe you have been over enthusiastic and not built up gradually enough. Do you a few stretching and cooling down exercises?
Well done Whitley, so thinking of upping the total Whitley? Anyone fancy a 20,000 day? Might have to wait for the snow and ice to go, still slithering a bit too much.
Bloss, I've always had jobs with odd hours. Even when I was little, I used to be in charge of map reading at age 3 and my Dad was forever getting me up at 2 and 3 in the morning. Very happy days.

Wednesday. Sorry I didn't manage my 10000 steps yesterday but did get to 8600 so not too bad and I also did a workout to Paddy and Max DVD. Not doing so well today after a really disturbed sleep last night but have just talked OH into doing a 3 mile round trip to the pub tonight, walking of course.I'll stick to slimline tonic but do find having a target to aim for helps and it definitely motivates him.
Whitley Bay I'd love to be your walking buddy as you suggested on your thread. How do you suggest we organise it? I obviously realise that it will be "virtual"unless by a happy chance you live in Poole,Dorset? Decx

Chilla, I have decided to try and up my step count today. I thought I would aim for 10050! Got to keep things realistic! Dec we must find a way of doing this walking buddy bit, no unfortunately I do not live in Poole.I hear it is a beautiful place beside the sea. Do you feel any better yet Blossom, how is the aching body?

Pedometer enforcer here. I'll be expecting 10,100 from you tomorrow Whitters
I think it took me about 3 months to build up from my initial average of around 7000, up to at the time about 18,000. Bit ambitious, so scaled back to 15,000
If you do go to Dorset to see dec, count me in - spent last Xmas there and it was lovely.

Hi Whitley Bay and Chilla, I'd love to see you both in Dorset.By a strange coincidence I used to live not so far from W.Bay.I then moved and lived not far from Runcorn.I also used to spend time at Formby and Ainsdale, like Blossom does now. We are practically related! I'm not doing so well today but I did force myself out to post a letter even though I will pass the post box tonight on my walk to the pub.Using the pedometer has made me realise that it's practically impossible to achieve 10000 steps unless you get out of the house and walk. The added bonus of this is we need vitamin D for our bones and even winter sun provides this and the fresh air brings a glow to our cheeks.I look 16 after prancing down to the post box. Perhaps it's not so good for my eyesight.Lol Decx

Hi everyone!
Haven't done my daily walk yet, as I had to get to work earlier than I thought this morning and haven't been on the wii either.
I was talking to my friend about the pain in my neck and down my back and she said it sounds like whiplash cos of my fall on the ice..I did go down with a bit of a jolt.My legs are Ok..I do try and do a few stretches before I walk.
Went to argos to buy pedometer in my lunch hour, but they only had a cheap one and i dont find them any good...so will look in a sports shop...oh , but I bought a skipping rope in Argos !
I do seem to be "going for it" this week don't I?I am hoping that by posting on here I will be motivated for longer than I usually am in January and that exercise (particularly walking ) will become part of my life!!
What a great idea to post how many steps we have done each day..don't think I will ever beat Chilla , though!!

Chilla's feeling proper sorry for herself today having come down with a mild case of sniffles, but coupled with the rotten weather and the 5 days of the month when I get Mittelschmerz, I'm feeling grumpy. At the moment I'm on 9701, suppose I'll gt over 10,000 on a point of principle, but I feel utterly Donald tonight.
It's worth waiting to get a decent one, Bloss. I f you get a rubbish one, you'll get disillusioned because it doesn't count properly and then you'll use it as an excuse to give in.

Sorry you are feeling grumpy and sniffly Chilla, get a good nights sleep and you will be back bouncing along with the dogs before you know it. Blossom, ok I am going to walk but no way am I joining you with a skipping rope! That brings a mental image of my wobbly bits definately wobbling! Hope you had a good walk, and a good night, at the pub Dec. Steps so far today 10036. I'll make sure I fit in the extra before bed!

Sorry to hear you are not feeling too well Chilla....that would be my ultimate excuse for not exercising!!
I am still "on a roll" with my walking ...I strolled round Tesco and then oh and I walked at a fair lick for 40 mins...not counting steps yet, but that will come!!
WB the skipping rope was an impulse buy , as it was on offer in argos near the cheapo pedometer...it probably wont get used, unless i want it to tangle up in my light fittings (I wont be skipping in the garden in this weather!

Still sniffling, so given myself permission to have the day off from the pedometer. Dogs grumbling in the background though may force me to go for a wander.
Never, never to the skipping. Far too much bouncing . it was a great disappointment in life to find out that Sally Gunnel lied about the effectiveness of the Shock Absorber bra, I mean if you can't trust Sally Gunnell, who can you trust

I 'm at the hospital this morning with my daughter, then work for the rest of the day, then its drama for d and tea at my in laws !!I will be getting withdrawal symptoms as I am realy enjoying my evning walk...especially if OH comes too..we a have right laugh, all wrapped up and walking in the rain or frost!!

You'll have to go for the old trick of using the photocopier furthest away from you, parking you car in the furthest corner of the car park, marching on the spot, walk at lunchtime, going to see people instead of e-mailing them.
If you don't achieve today, add your shortfall on to tomorrow!

Thursday. Morning everyone. Sorry you are feeling poorly Chilla.I hope you feel better soon. Blossom,I've also got a skipping rope somewhere but am a bit useless at it now.I can't blame my boobs,I think I lack coordination. It is supposed to be one of the best ways of keeping fit though so perhaps I'll give it a go again.I'll need to find it first though. My OH is now wearing his pedometer again and has got caught up in the whole thing. We are also going for a nightly walk and this weather has been perfect for that.We did a 3 mile round walk to the pub last night, had 1 drink, mine was a cup of tea,and headed home again. My score yesterday was 10800 steps and his was 13000.We are choosing a pub a bit further away tonight ,it's giving a whole new meaning to going on a pub crawl! How did you do Whitley Bay?
Do you think you could make this a weekly post Blossom, divided into daily sections so that we can keep a sort of daily journal? A bit like The Flabuless posts? It would be a great motivation for us all.
Have a great day everyone. Decx

hi dec, what a good idea to have a weekly post.
I first got into the pedometer when I joined Fitbug, they have a website and hence I refer to my pedometer as a bug. It's all about moving more and they offer challenges, stuff on healthy eating, create leagues that you can join and it really motivated me at the time. There was also a forum that was really good, but as happens from time to time, there was a load of bickering at one point and then it went very quiet. My sub ended in December, so i'd love to join another league to keep me going.

Well, you learn something every day...Mittelschmerz, just wikipedia'd it! I didn't know it had a name...how do you find these things out?
Anyway, I'm up for a league...haven't got my 'bug' yet but when I do it I'll be raring to go...

Good idea about having a section on this, count me in.I will need massive motivation when I return to work next week. I went walking this morning with a bunch of men, it was fantastic! Well if I am truthful they were nestled, down with my pedometer, and they sang to me as I walked. Justin T. Ricky M,Jimi H and all of the Divo boys.I sang along with them when I thought I was alone and scared the dogs in the park! Dec yesterday I hit my new target, so today I am going for 10054! I still have a long way to go to catch you guys up.

So Whitters, in one post you are boasting about how many men you have and in the next that you are horizontal. is there only me that can see the connection???????
Ashbee, Mittelschmerz, if you are eve 'lucky' enough to get it, you soon lear all about it. Can never understand why my thighs hurt though . Fortunately I don't get any PMT, so i s'pose I can't complain.

Hi everyone!!
What agreat idea to have a weekly post Dec..what day of the week would you like it to start?Sunday evening maybe good as we can either look back on the week just gone or talk about the week ahead and maybe set some goals.
I managed to do a bit of a walk at lunchtime today...and I walked up the stairs instead of taking the lift.I use a free car park a really long way from work and then I was on my feet all afternoon(directing a panto that one of my students had written and which couldn't be performed before xmas ) , but I am off work tomorrow and so I WILL go for my walk.
Not used the skipping rope yet....could do ten minutes before bed time.
Cathy..I wish I still looked as good as Mr Motivator twenty or so years on!!
