Wii Fit!
      #297995 - 05/01/2009 23:08

I am simply loving this thing!I am in hot competition with my 12 year old nephew who has only had his since Christmas. We have had ours for 2 months and we are addicted. Its really good fun and great when you have all the family or friends round. You think you will only go on it for 30 mins and find 2 hours later there you are still stuck on the thing and its midnight! How sad are we! Knackered but getting fit.And not wasting money down the boring old gym.Get one today!!!!

Hi Helen1954 and welcome to the forum. The Wii Fit was my totally surprising Christmas present from OH, and like you we've had loads of fun with it, competing against YS and GF and MS and DIL over the holidays.

I'm addicted to the advanced table tilt and the yoga, and I've rediscovered the joys of the hula hoop.

Hi Sella-Vee.Thanks for the welcome.Never joined anything like this before, but it seems like fun.Who are YS GF MS and DIL?I probably am being really thick here but maybe you can bring me up to spec!!
I just love the ski jump!As soon as i get a lousy score i restart it to get a better one.Sad cow!Am loving boxing and hula hoop too.Jogging is harder and makes me realise how unfit i am.If OH means husband he is thrashing me on the step beginner and advanced. This is just awful.I will have to step up my game!!!!

I'd love a Wii Fit. In the meantime, I'll have to be content with training for the MoonWalk, which I start tonight. Have to say though, I am not looking forward to going out at 4pm today for a 5 mile walk.....

Hi and welcome to the zany world of the forum!

I'm thinking of getting one just for the fit thing, can I use it by myself? You mention the competitive aspect but can just one player use it?

Hello MrsT

yes you can use it by yourself - try and borrow one first and see if you like it. I think it;'s probably more fun if you have someone to compete against.

Hi Helen

You've prompted me to start using mine again. I got a bit bored with it and stopped using it a couple of months ago, but I did enjoy the ski-ing and the boxing.

I agree with Chilla that it's probably more fun if you have someone to do it with - OH isn't interested but if he was I think I would use it more.

I have one too. Wy don't we all get registered (I have already) through the internet system and then we can compare training etc. Like going to the gym en masse!! (Only cheaper and without a hint of lycra anywhere!). If you register your bought items then it costs nothing. Go to he website club-nintendo.com and it guides you through the process! Then if you look on the map you can find out where everyone is. You can e-mail messages see scores and all sorts!! We could also excercise in between e-mails messages etc....

I really fancy getting one. Does the Wii fit include tennis as I'd like that, or is that in the sports package?
Would appreciate info on what you get in a Wii fit pack, and do you need to buy extras for it? Thanks.

Hi Bluebella

You will need a Wii console and the Wii fit package for the Yoga, but if you don't want to invest in both wait a few days and you will be able to get My Fitness Coach, its released on 23 Jan and will cost about £17.99. It has a yoga programme with it - looking at the american reviews it would be more like working with a DVD, but will still track your activity and you acievments - you will still need to invest in the console though.

My daughter who plays tennis for real, and to a good standard, took it all a bit too seriously, and almost threw herself into the TV, as she tried to execute a back hand down the line!! She's calmed down a bit now, still can't beat her though.

LOL Cowleygirl, so it sounds like an empty, padded room is an essential part of the package too. I fear this would be me too, but due to clumsiness and overexcitement rather than skill!

Hi Blubella

The Wii consile costs about £184 including wii sports and another game and the wii fit costs about £68, you can buy them together which works out slightly cheaper.

Thanks Jennifer but it will probably end up with my fit ball that I really had to have - and has never been used after 2 years! At least that only cost about £10.

I'll try and wait a few months for all the unwanted christmas presents on E-bay,or maybe Summer will get one and I can use hers, lol!

Loo, thanks for translating for Helen. I was lucky in that YS already had a Wii from last Christmas, so OH (Other Half) just bought me the balance board. My two younger boys and their partners were home over Christmas and New Year so they were able to take pole position on the leader board and have left me with something to aim for!

Thanks for the tip about club-nintendo, BeauSoleil, I didn't know about that, because people with student sons never read instructions because they never set anything up!

Hi Mrs T.
My HO is away a lot so the wii fit is great to play on your own.You can do all the exercises e.g.balance games, yoga, aerobic exercises and muscle work outs.I find that when HO gets back he is more than willing to try to better my score(why are men sooo competitive?)
There isnt tennis in the pack-you have to buy Wii Sports for that.In that you get tennis baseball bowling golf and boxing. All of the games can be played solo.So there is really no excuse.I also find that a lot of the games can make you very hot so i usually do them just in my underwear. This i find makes the games much more interesting for your man. This is what works for us.Just a thought maybe????

Good grief Helen! I've been married far too long for all that malarkey

So, if I have it right I need a Wii console, a Wii Fit game and a balance board?

SIL says I need a 10-pin bowling game too so that's obviously separate - I think?

They are very scarce by the look of it, can't find one online at all

Hi Mrs Twiddle

There is a 10pin bowling game on wii sport which usually comes with the console, it's pretty good - my scores are pretty low though as every time I use it OH steps in and takes over - it is his fave game - along with the boxing. Play have some in stock as a bundle

http://www.play.com/Games/Wii/4-/7796378...it/Product.html

At £319 I think it is over priced, I paid £248.95 for the same bundle from John Lewis, so you will need to look around

Oh, I should have said, you might also want wii play, you get a remote and a game for about £30 which is better value than buying a second remote which costs £30 on it's own. It's not worth getting the accessory bundle, it's not expensive but we only used the add ons once and now don't bother with them, especially after OH tried to rip the light off the ceilling with the tennis racket - it was all very dramatic!

It's great fun and a constant reminder of your weight - ooh dear, put that biscuit DOWN!!!! As for you JenniferPl - no more cream teas!!! (At least not without me!)

The most telling thing about the Wii Fit is when it takes your perfectly presentable Mii and supersizes it to reflect the true you - my kids squealed with laughter and never fail to tell all their mates whenever they get the board out! If that doesn't encourage me to lose weight, I don't know what will!!

Hi Sue

are you going to join the nintendo club? I am going to tonight, it might be fun to see what scores we are getting and start a little competition. Ahhh, I could just go for a cream tea, but I do have to squeeze into that wedding dress in September - I really don't want to have to consider bigger options!

Am feeling a bit grumpy cos no choc!

Distorted Miis aside, it really is good fun to play - I like the ski jumping best. We have a lot of fun trying to improve on our scores - my son is superfit and is usually top, but my daughter pipped him at the bubble river the other day and she still hasn't come down from that cloud - glad to learn I'm not the only grown up who plays it.

Cowleygirl-before we had our own we played tennis at a friends house and I sideswiped my four year old with the racket thing. I was really getting into it and just didn't see him there as i was in the midst of a sterling backhander (literally!!)

Is every one on Club Nintendo then tonight. Look for me in france -I'm on there already!

There is a map thingy (very technical) and if you go to France and look for me you'll find me. I'll PM with details actually

Hello again all! I thought I knew what I was talking about but when I just went to check on t'internet I was baffled!! When I did it before I had my friend sitting next to me guiding me though!! Will check with my friend as if I have understood it properly there are only certain games you can play like that. However you can somehow e-mail etc throught the console and handset. Leave it with me and I will check it out with him over the next couple of days!!
