A new me next year!
      #270497 - 04/12/2008 12:41

I'm quite excited as I'm going to sign up to my gym for a 12 week Body for Life course.
I'm already a member but just go once every now and then, and just walk on the treadmill for 20 minutes while I watch the TV!
It's a new plan they have coming out and you have to commit yourslef for the 12 weeks to 6 days a week of exercise, one cardio and the next weights.
They also give you a diet guide and a journal, and weight you and measure you at intervals.
When I used to watch Celeb Fit Club I thought that's just what I need, someone to give me a kick up the bum and keep an eye on me.
I'm really looking forward to doing this and hope I get the results I'd like.

How exciting! Good for you! Is it from now or does it start in January? Shall we go mad and redesign your wardrobe, hair and make-up?? I'm so excited for you!

I LOVE these new starts!

Thanks girls, I'm really looking forward to it. It starts in January, which is probably just as well because I don't think I'd do very well over christmas and new year!
It's £30 for the course, which I think is quite good.
It should be good for me because I just need a bit of motivation to get me going.
Mrs T - funny you should say about wardrobe and clothes, one of my friends has just had her "colours" done. She said it was really interesting and she learnt a lot, and now knows the colours she should be wearing.
I've made enquiries and it's about £80, but they will come to your house and go through your wardrobe and show you your style - but that's about £160, eeek! The blurb is the outlay will save you making expensive mistakes,so I'm still thinking about that one!

If it helps, I'll be blogging about clearing clutter in wardrobes very soon, that should empty a few things for you

Be interested to see it Mrs Twiddle as I pride myself on being clutter free and often do it for my friends.

Well done bluebella, having just been out to buy my dress for Christmas party, in a size I would prefer not to be...I think you have the right idea. Am definitely going to work harder at looking better, but it will have to wait till after the festive season. Good luck and look forward to following your progress.

£30 for a 12 week course seems really good - is it a local authority gym?

Hi Valerie,
No it's LA Fitness gym. I'm already a member and pay a monthly fee, and the £30 is on top of that. Still a good price if it gives me the kick up the posterier that I need!

Bluebella, getting fatter each day!

Hi all...........that sounds like a real good bargain bluebella. I too am starting an exercise class in January but I am lucky mine is an 8week course and it is free!!!!

Before you get excited and wanting to know where it is I will enlighten you..........it is the start of my rehabilitation excercise programme at the Physio dept in my local Hosp. It has been arranged by the coronary care team to get my heart and arteries moving a bit more to stop the artery spasms.

However it is a good starting point to get me going and for me to know what I can and cannot do. After the 8 weeks I then have the opportunity to work with one of the guys in the programme who runs a follow on course at my local school in their new state of the art gym. This follow on runs for 14 weeks.

So hopefully after about 5 months I should be fit as a fiddle as I am going to try and lose weight alongside the course. Part of the "2009 new Jean Programme" I am putting in hand.

Good luck to you.

Hi Thimble,
Glad to see your cold is finally going and you're feeling better.
Your course sounds really good - and free too!
It is important to make sure we do enough exercise. I drive to work, sit down all day, and drive home - hence my ever expanding rear!
I really need to get back into the habbit and that's what I'm hoping for when I start my course.
Let us know how you get on with yours, I bet it will make you feel really good and get to meet new people (I think I saw a thread saying you don't get out much?)

I know it's no good trying anything this year so we'll both go for it in 2009 and both be new women!

I'd like to weigh a bit less but I've never been on a diet - nor do I like the idea of it - so I'll be looking at an 'eating healthier and a bit less' type of food regime!

A stone would be perfect!

Mrs T -I would have thought all your twiddling would have kept you nice and trim!
I would like to lose a stone too but I seem to lose a couple of pounds through the week, then back on it goes over the weekend, so frustrating.
I have actually got to the stage where we've been out so much for meals, already I'm getting fed up and want to get back to nice healthy meals - until the next time!
I've got my firms do tonight, so another 3 course meal, christmas and then we're going to France for the new year, so I should come back like the Michelin Man by then!

Don't worry girls, we'll get there next year!

I've noticed that as we get older we have to eat less. It is the only way.

Mine will be starting on Boxing Day as when I'm away from work, I eat less! No stress or boredom eating

Housework is seriously good for calorie burning, though maybe we should get down on our hands and knees and scrub away to tone the bingo wings.

I'm trying to add cycling at the weekends to my list of activities. Been out and got some lights and downloaded a cycle maintenance programme, so will give the bike some TLC over Xmas. That's on top of the walking and dancing, so I should be fit-ish; though still wide
