Every time I go on holiday (especially somewhere warm) I end up with swollen ankles. Any tips that might help to reduce this would be much appreciated.
Cheers Sushi

My OH suffers with this too, we think its a side effect of the blood pressure medication he takes - he has high blood pressure. Not sure of what might help but I'm interested to see if anyone else has some tips because its something that really bothers OH. I know when I was pregnant I suffered & was always putting my feet up at any opportunity to relieve them. Good luck Sushi, welcome to the forum too! Hope you get some answers from others soon .

Hiya sushi
Firstly I would check with your Gp in case there is some underlying problem. Otherwise, make sure you are drinking enough fluids daily - the danger is cutting down when you are swollen- and doing plenty of exercise, preferably walking - and perhaps consider taking a "water" tablet like aquaban.
If the swelling happens when sitting down - ie flying, coach travel etc, make sure you move about plus do some ankle exercises.
Hope the above helps

Hi Sushi, and welcome, I am suffering the same thing off and on, it was quite bad a few weeks ago, but seems to have got a little better. My doctor is going to do some tests to makes sure its nothing else like throid problems.

Please everyone who suffers from swollen ankles - get it checked out by your GP. It's not always a sign of something serious but it's better to have it looked at just in case. My ankles get a little swollen when I eat things that don't agree with me so it's not a serious thing for me, but my son has kidney disease and swollen ankles was the first symptom he had.
