Is there a book club in Cheltenham? If not, would anyone like to come along to a new one? Can you please e-mail me if you are interested?

Verona

Hi Verona
I love books - my favourites are A Prayer for Owen Meany, Let's Talk about Kevin, Wuthering Heights, Catch 22, Grapes of Wrath - sorry! Can't list them all. I'm always looking for new authors to grab my attention.
Anyway - I'd be interested in a club. I live in Gloucester.
Mel

Hi Mel,

I've just sent a general message to yourself and Verona about starting a book club..... but I've just seen your message posted (I'm new to the site and my navigation around it!)and had to respond. You've listed some of my favourite books (apart from Catch 22, which I battled with). A prayer for Owen Meany, We need to Talk about Kevin and Wuthering Heights would all feature in my top ten best reads.

Can't wait to join/start a book club and discuss lots more( The Book Thief, A Thousand Splendid Suns.......)

Kathryn

Hi Kathryn
Sounds like we have similar tastes - have you read the Kiterunner? and Life of Pi - if not, you'd love them!
Re starting a club, I think my sister would be interested in joining us too. Even if there's only 4 of us to begin with, it would be something that would grow I think!
Looking forward to something coming of it.
Mel

Hi Kathryn and Verona
It seems there is another thread regarding a book club in Cheltenham, on page 2 of the forum. I've suggested that we all get together and start one if we're all still interested.
What do you think?
Mel

Hi Mel & Verona,

If there is a group forming already then it would be good to be part of that ----- If not I'm quite happy to start one with the four of us.... especially as we seem to enjoy the same books.

Keep me posted on any responses you get.

Many thanks,

Kathryn

Hi, i've emailed 6 or 7 people who have recently expressed an interest - so we can see who is still interested. Perhaps we could then meet some place in Chelters and take it from there?

Hi Mel, Verona and Katie - I think you're right as we seem to have enough people expressing an interest to go ahead and get a book club started. Perhaps we should suggest a time and place and see who can make it? If I were to suggest Thursday evening would that be a good for everyone (just for an initial meet up and chat about how our book club would work etc)?

Let me know what you think
Kathryn

Just emailed you Kathryn - I don't know where we all live, I'm Cheltehnham side of Gloucester, so Cheltenham is fine for me. I don't know the pubs/restaurants/hotels there that well, but I'm sure someone can suggest somewhere fairly quiet-ish. Do you think 7.30 pm is a good time?
This is going to be fun!

Hi all - you still interested? Kathryn and I are arranging to meet this Thursday 13th November.
If you email one or other of us, we'll give you details.
