After suffering 18 years of an on off allergy I have been told that I have an intolerance to PPDs which are found in hair dye. I was advised that the darker hair dyes contain more PPDs than the lighter shades. I have treated my hair for 18 years with the lighter shades and am not keen to stop just yet. Does anyone know how to colour treat hair and avoid the reaction to PPDs? Would prefer to continue with visits to salons rather than DIY

I discussed hair dyes with my hairdresser once, who said it was possible to dye the hair but not let it go onto the scalp. I can't believe this would work as you would have a gap, like a 4 week growing out mark.
Are there any non permanent dyes that don't contain these chemicals, that your hairdresser could use?
I probably depends how they affect you as to continuing their use.
Good luck
