Disco songs.
      #213779 - 06/10/2008 09:23

I'm having a big birthday party in December and we are compiling a list of sings we want playing (disco guy can download from computer apparently).
Can you think of good songs to dance to?

Morning Kate, a few that spring to mind are as follows. if you think you don't know them look them up on youtube you will be surprised at how familiar they are.............

Boogie wonderland - earth wind and fire

Ring my bell- Anita Ward

Good times or Le Freak - Chic

Funkytown - Lipps Inc

Born to be alive - Patrick Hernandez

Stomp - Brothers Johnson

I have loads more but too many to list. I did a 50th party for my SIL, and used lots of these classic disco tunes, they went down very well, with young and older guests.
Hope this helps.

Hi Kate
I would suggest:
Saturday Night - Whigfield (spellings might be wrong)
The Macarena
Oops Upside Your Head (if they can still sit on the floor without incurring an injury!)
YMCA (party must have!)

All will fill the dance floor.
My YD also had Wig Wam Bam (Sweet) at her recent 18th - everyone loved it.

Hi Kate

Total dancing round your handbag classics -

Lost in Music - Sister Sledge
Donna Summer
Barry White
Native New Yorker and Going back to my roots - Odyssey
Ain't nobody - Chaka Khan
Knock on wood - Ami Stewart
Gonna get along without you now - Viola Wills
The beat goes on - Whispers
Raining men - Weathr Girls
L:et the Music play - Shannon
Anything by the BeeGees
Haven't stopped dancing yet - Gonzalez

That do for the moment?

So will you be digging out you satin pants and glitter make-up?

--------------------
When I have talked for an hour I feel lousy-
Not so when I have danced for an hour;
The dancers inherit the party
While the talkers wear themselves out and
Sit in corners, alone, and glower.

Thank you, thank you!
They are great.

We have thought of quite a lot, but there are a lot here we hadn't thought of.
You are right, in that it's the classic disco ones I need to make the atmosphere right so that lots of people dance.
Got all the replies back except three, chosen outfit, got catering arranged...just need shoes!
Did it all early purely 'cos it's December, and people have alot on, so wanted to get in first with invitations.

Kep the songs coming as you think of them...pleeeeassseee!

Chilla,
Your mention of satin pants reminds me we haven't met yet!
if I ever looked good in them, I wouldn't now!!
No it's a black lace dress ( told that lace is very 'in' this year)!

Indeed lace is very where it's at this season - you'll be very 'on trend' as my garment technologist friend would say.

And I thought of some more...

Yes sir i can boogie - Baccara
I love the nightlife - Alicia Briges
I will survive - Gloria Gaynor
Disco Inferno - Trammps
Jump to the beat - Stacey Lattisaw
Give it up - KC & the sunshine band
Working my way back to you - Detroit Spinners
Red light spells danger - Billy ocean
Baby don't change your mind - Gladys Knight
Jump Pointer Sisters
Love train - O'Jays

Think I better go and do some work now

Noooooo! Work will wait! And you are on a roll!
My party is important, and there are only two months to go!

We have already thought of some of those, but I am compiling a list of the above.
'I Will Survive' was the first one I thought of!
And, must play Mustang Sally as it's the one my ES would smash! he just hates it!
I would smash'Green Green Grass of Home' and anything by Jim Reeves, and I have never liked Unchained Melody, though it always comes out top of any poll!

Trammps - Disco Inferno

I broke my wrist dancing to this in 2003. 2 days in hospital and 6 weeks in plaster. A bit embarrassing at 42!!

Enjoy your party Kate ... but beware of wet floors!!
