      #213219 - 05/10/2008 16:37

......one word using a mnemonic ( memory trick ), what would you choose? Only for fun.

e.g. separate - there is A RAT in sepARATe

definitely - remember the root word 'FINITE' with an 'I', then just add the suffix 'ly'

To distinguish between stationery and stationary there is an "e" envelope in stationery.

Let me know if you think of any and I will help.

I used to teach commonly misspelt words and made up these memory aids:

When you are embarrassed you go red and you smile, so there are two "r's" (for red) and two "s's" (for smile)

Accommodation has two chalets and two maisonettes (two "c's" and two "m's")

Mediterranean has two "r's" which look like palm trees bending in the wind (use your imagination).
