Our walking group is fantastic!
      #212233 - 04/10/2008 08:56

I just wanted to say how great it is to have walking buddies as a result of this forum. On Monday two of us walked for an hour in beautiful Stowe Park. It was a glorius day and we felt fantastic when we'd finished.

Yesterday three of us walked for 7 miles, had a pub lunch and picked blackberries for a pie. It was a great day.

A year ago I would have been hard pushed to walk a mile!

We all agree that getting out in the fresh air, whatever the weather, having a good old natter about anything and everything in beautiful surroundings makes you feel glad to be alive.

Walking is fantastic for physical and mental health and I would hate to give it up now and I have gained so much by making these forum friends.

So thanks, dippy, Teddy and Claire. I value your friendship. If anyone is thinking of joining a walking club then go for it!

Hi MT
You Walking Group sounds just like our group in Cardiff ! We are so lucky to live where there are others on the Forum who want to walk too. It is a bit sad when people desperately want walking buddies and there is no one in their area. We always seem to end up in a nice coffee shop....it has to have cake for some of us!!... and to have a good chat....and all from joining the Forum. We also have a Supper Club and a Cinema Group. I have met some lovely ladies whom I never would have crossed paths with if it wasnt for this Forum. We have only one problem....we seem to miss the correct route for our walks very frequently....one of the ladies said it was because we have springs on our jaws!!... and miss the signposts....who cares though!!
Happy walking from our group to yours.
xx

How fortunate you are to have met wonderful walking mates. I hope the same happens in Caversham/Reading - if not now then perhaps when Spring comes around again. Enjoy. I left my walking mates behind in South Africa but they are still my best friends and we keep in touch all the time.

RitaG

Do persevere, it's so worth it. I met my first walking buddy at a supper club and we will have been walking together for a year in January. I suppose it helped because we met each other first.

Two others have joined since and we have great fun together, but we were just a two for quite a while until the others joined us.

Hope someone joins you soon. Best wishes.
