Would be interested too in a book club in cornwall.
Found the forum for book clubs but cant see any postings for Cornwall. Perhaps it needs setting up?

Hi I am moving back to Cornwall on Nov 3rd, I wonder if we all live near each other, maybe we could have a book club and supper club all rolled into one. If you pm me with where you live and suggestions that would be great, I need to get in touch with my girly side and make new friends.

Hope your moving plans going well. I live between Truro and Redruth and agree that a supper/book club sounds like a really good idea.
Look forward to hearing from you once you are settled.

Hi Mary, I am moving back on 5th November into a rented property in Penzance. I suppose I will be busy for a couple of days, busy looking at jobs sites at the moment, applying to NHS as I used to work for them before. Clerical jobs of course, OH has an interview already lined up for the Friday 7th!!!! Will contact everyone interested after I am settled. The more I think about it the more I like it a book/supper club.

Regards

Have just tried to post message about this fledgling book/supper club and think posted it somewhere else...well its not here anyway!!

It would be great to hear from anyone asap with ideas re dates/venue etc where we could all meet and take this idea further? Could I suggest we try to do something next month?

Please PM me with details. Truro seems central to Cornwall ..unless you live in Bude but we have to start somewhere!

I'm up for meeting next month in or near Truro-perhaps at a coffee place initially?

Yes I agree Truro would be fine, but I would prefer middle or later in month as I do not move back till the 5th November.

Truro would be great for me. I love the idea of this, agree we could initially meet up in a coffee place, there's loads in Truro. Mid late November would be ideal but I work Tuesdy to Friday. Are we thinking a Saturday thing or a midweek thing? Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi I think a weekend would be better for people who are working, not sure if or where i will be working yet! If we meet in a cafe, then afterwards it would leave us free to do a bit (dare I say xmas shopping). Can I make a suggestion how about if it is still there Ottakars book shop - combine a bookshop and coffee shop - that way if we decide to combine book club and coffee shop we can start by choosing a book to read. Just an idea!!!

Hi Can I be so bold to suggest the 22nd November (I work shifts and can request the day off if I have enough notice!)
The Ottakers you mention Sara is now Waterstones (I think!)and although it might be a bit busy we can always decant to somewhere else if we cant sit down. Truro is now awash with coffee franchises so it shouldnt be too hard. Alternatively there are a couple of pubs near Truro which would ease parking and avoid entering the city depending of course which way you are coming from. Victoria Inn at Threemilestone (3miles from city!) or Chiverton arms just off A30 on the road to St Agnes (about 5 miles north of Truro).

The 22nd sounds good to me. Waterstones sounds fine and as you say plenty of other places to arrange as well. I know where the Victoria Inn is and have probably passed the Chiverton Arms as well.

Lets really try to get this off the ground, as once we've met up once it will be easier to re-arrange our next meeting.

Hope to hear from everyone soon. xx

Dear All potential book/supper club ladies in Cornwall,
I live nr Truro and am interested in joining (mainly) the supper club part but love reading too but don't get much time to read.
Waterstones (was Ottakers) in Truro is probably a good place to meet but would probably be rather full on a Sat afternoon. I could not get there before about 1.30 pm anyway.
I shall be away from 1st till 10th Nov and have two busy Saturdays following but can probably manage an hour on Sat 22nd Nov just to meet everyone.
Gill

Hello
Just read your post. Yes I think the Victoria In at Threemilestone would be a good place to meet rather than the busy, noisy Waterstones. (This is a good place for me as I live at Carnon Downs) and only have a spare hour that afternoon! (22nd Nov) Saturdays are usually not very good for me.

Okay then, if it's okay with everyone else shall we meet up at the Victoria Inn at Threemilestone at say 2pm on 22nd November?? Maybe we could each bring a book of the sort we enjoy reading? What do you all think? That's a lot of questions!!!

Hi managed to get on the internet, I have e mailed peacelily Yes I will be there on the 22nd I will also bring a book that I like reading - I think this will be a great idea. Then when we meet we can see what other suggestions we can come up with. I am really looking forward to meeting everyone that can make it and hopefully by then we might get a few others coming. Is the Victoria Inn the one on the main road of threemilestone? I know it is 2pm
when we meet but do they serve snacks and do you think we could push the boat out and have something to eat? Just an idea! If anyone cannot make it, then we could publish the next date on the forum for others to see.

Hi....have done some research and Victoria Inn do food until 2.30 so maybe we should make it earlier if we want to eat? If not we can buy crips, nuts etc I guess or order really quickly?!
For those people who dont know the area the pub is on the main road in Threemilestone. The web site www.staustellbrewery.co.uk is worth looking at as it has directions. Follow the links our pubs then pubs in cornwall then Threemilestone and finally Victoria inn .

Looking forward to meeting whoever turns up! I guess we'll be the ones with the books!

Shall we make it say 1pm if we want to have food then? Really looking forward to meeting you, and just wondering if we should put a thread on the supper club page to see if anyone else would like to come?

Hi all Sara here, 2 interviews this week waiting to hear. Lost our pointer this week 2 days after move, French Vet said she was OK. English vet says she was riddled in cancer, we knew something was wrong!!! Very thin, useless vet!!! So it is a bit strange without her, after 13 years. Our springer is a bit lost at the moment. Will see you all on the 22nd,

Sara

Threemilestone
