I am now in bed with a nose as bright as the proverbial reindeer's, a cough that according to a colleague at work makes me sound like a seal, and a head that feels as if it is stuffed with cooton wool. To make matters worse I was going to meet someone from the forum for a drink tonight, but we have cancelled. Has anyone got any quick cures? I am not a good patient!

not many cures forthcoming are there!
shed loads of vitamin C loads of water wrap up warm and sweat it out even if you feel hot! paracetomol and nurofen at the same time (one to kill pain and one for anti inflam) and some vaseline to run round your nostrils so that when you blow your nose the tissue doesnt make your nose sore or dry.
hope this helps and you feel better soon! K

Here is a bunch of flowers to cheer you up whitlebay Sorry to hear you are laid up to and with a cold. A cold may be a simple illness and sound a small thing but as I know it can cause more problems. I suffer with asthma and a cold always goes to my chest and causes me to have to take a course of anitbiotics and steriods. What a pain they don't mix well with my favourite remedie for many an ill, a drink of cherry b
Best wishes whitlebay and I hope you soon bounce back.

This remedy works for a cough.
2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar 2 teaspoons runny honey Stir this into half glass of hot water.
I think Kleenex make some tissues with a balm in,this will help with your sore nose.
When the cold has cleared, start taking Echinacea tablets, you can buy them in the Health Shop.
Best wishes and a speedy recovery

Drambuie with ice. Sip slowly. Ice cold cools throat, alcohol numbs it and kills germs, and cos it's thick it clings nicely.
And it tastes lovely. Best cure for a cough
Failing that, make some ice cubes with orange squash and suck them. Same effect, but not as much fun

Hi all, thanks for your advice. I crashed out into bed at 7ish last night and got up today at 4pm. I have just slept, sneezed and coughed. My ribs ache with all of the coughing!I have tried the whisky and hot water tonight with some panadol. If my spelling goes to pot you will know why! Thanks for the advice ladies, and of course the flowers dbverycherry.

Whitley you have my sympathy. I have just recovered from the same symptoms. The cough was the worst part, like I was gasping for breath.
Get well soon
