DAY 179.............IN THE RAW.............
      #203755 - 25/09/2008 09:20

Good morning girls, we have been promised glorious weather today, Im still waiting, its dull and a bit misty just now.

Raw foods are foods that have not been cooked, boiled, stewed, microwaved, frozen baked or steamed. As a result, they are still in their original state and contain their food enzymes.

Food enzymes are the life force of food and help the digestion process.

Raw fruits and vegtables, sprouted grains and sprouted seeds all contain enzymes.

We need an abundant supply of food enzymes to nourish our bodies, provide us with energy and balance our metabolism.

So girls, how much raw food do you eat in your daily diet?

It has been suggested that if you can eat a veg raw, then do, its far better for you and helps digest the rest of your meal.

I hope you all have a lovely day, and the sun comes out for you.

Hi mjm - we posted at the same time - but you are much more inspirational than me! I'll try to have a nice salaad when I'm out for lunch today with Mayday and the gang.

Hi girls,
It's a bit grey, grim and chilly here.
I love raw veggies - especially with either hummous or a very healthy low fat dip - 1 crushed clove of garlic, pot of fat free creme fraiche or greek yogurt - snipped or even dried chives and black pepper!!! Stir together and enjoy - it's really yummy!!
Have a lovely day
Anne xx

Hi mjm, I deleted it as it wasn't as good as yours - it was a resolution to get more rest, because I stayed up too late last night and now I'm tired and grumpy!!! I want a big donut with my coffee, to cheer me up and then probably a bar of chocolate too. Needless to say, I shan't be having either of those!

Morning All! I love raw vegetables - if I didn't have to cook meat and vegetables for my OH, I would probably live on raw veg and salad. Lovely!

Hope you're all having a good day.
xx

Hi everyone!
As far as raw vegetables go, I usually have a salad every day. I like raw carrots too. I like vegetables cooked al dente or steamed, so I suppose that's healthier than boiling them to death. Anne - your dip sounds lovely, I might try that.

We had a lovely evening for Mum's birthday, we all enjoyed ourselves and the hotel made a big fuss of the birthday girl. The food was yummy, but I was able to choose fairly healthy options. My starter was Grilled Haloumi with roasted asparagus & salad leaves - gave some of the Haloumi to my son, cos his starter was miniscule, and it meant I didn't eat it all! Then I had citrus sorbet and my main course was seared Sea Bass with tiger prawns in a lime & mango dressing, this was served with vegetables and was absolutely delicious! Of course I had a pudding too - after all I was working on the 80/20 rule! - chocolate & hazelnut terrine, which was out of this world. You'll be relieved that I didn't have cream with it! By the way my athletic B had spotted dick with custard! Must confess there were choccies with coffee, only had one though! Oh - and the cake was lovely, very rich couldn't eat all my slice and gave the icing to GS. Also had 2 glasses white wine and a glass of bubbly - so that wasn't too bad either.

I wore my lovely navy silk Coast wrap dress - and did feel slim!

I'm eating out again tonight!!!! Lady Lions this time! it is really unusual for me to eat out, let alone twice in the same week, unless on holiday of course.

Hope you all have a good day whatever you are doing.

Afternoon ladies!

Raw cauiliflower Linby? I have never tried that - not sure it's my thing but I will try it. Probably with Anne's dip - that sound lovely. Not sure I could eat raw meat Spanish Lady - I like mine incinerated

I'm a big salad eater (lol, literally!) so tend to eat lots of lettuce, cucumber, peppers and onions. Time to broaden my choices I think.

Line dancing was great fun last night, it's the first one for a few weeks as the instructor was on holiday, and it was so nice to be back! I do have 2 left feet but I don't let it stop me, and if I end up facing the wrong way - I just laugh and catch up. It never fails to lift my spirits.

AllyL - I look forward to hearing how your celebrations went.

Linby - my fingers are firmly crossed that you find that file.

I'll try and log on later to to find out how everyone else is, in the meantime have a lovely day.x

AllyL, I'm glad your Mum had a lovely birthday, and that you felt slim. I love the clothes in Coast. The meal sounds delicious.

Patsy - I liked the idea of wine dancing. I might start a club for that up here!! I enjoy line dancing but I haven't done any in ages. I like the way you can do it without a partner.

My OH will often pinch some raw cauliflower when I'm preparing it, and also sliced mushrooms.

There was a woman called Lesley Kenton who used to be a great advocate of raw food. Does anyone remember her? She was blonde and always wore white. Gillian McKeith is another fan of raw veg. My MIL took the opposite view and used to boil her veg into submission. Her cauliflower looked like mashed potato .

I am better at raw fruit than veg because I eat that summer and winter and always start the day with fruit if I can. I am also a great lover of soup, and get a lot of veg that way.

Im just back from my food shop, so plenty of fruit and veg to have.

I too eat loads of salad stuff with sprouted beans and sprinkle pumpkin and sunflower seeds on to it, to give it a nutty texture.

Oh yes and dont forget my fresh juices I make 2/3 times a week.

chick are you feeling less grumpy now, did you resist the donut and chocolate?

anne that dip does sound lovely, will you make me some? Ta!

linby, have you found that file yet? I dont think I could do raw colli, but I dont like colli anyway, its the smell I think!

Raw meat SL, are you pregnant??lol I love prawns and smoked salmon tho.

Hi Alex, I saw that NY cheese cake in Tescos and I thought of you straight away, its nice to see you again, maybe you could convert OH to eat raw meat and veg!!

Ally, your meal out sounds just fabuless, the next time you go to that hotel, will you invite me please? AND your out again tonight! this is how the other half live girls! Im so jealous!

Patsy, your line dancing does sound like fun. There are loads of things you could put in your salad Patsy, have you tried, sweetcorn, sugar snap peas and mange tuot, kidney beans, baby plumb tomatoes, celery, and all the different leefy things like spinich and water cress, the list could go on for ever, so come on babe, broaden your horizon and live dangerously!

Overcooked veg was the order of the day when we were growing up - if it wasn't slop it wasn't cooked, lol!

I shall try a few of those MJM but couldn't possibly eat Mange Tout - we'd miss her rude pictures

Sella Vee - that is the reason we started line dancing, we got fed up of being mauled by sweating men at salsa, lol. Yuk! We actually enjoy line dancing more - the people who go are friendlier and the atmosphere is fun.

MJM - what are sprouted beans? I remember Gillian Mckeith going on about them, but decided she was just weird. I know you're not so will trust you

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sprouting#Seeds_that_can_be_sprouted

Im too lazy, I buy mine from my local health food store, they really are super foods, they taste something like peas out of a pod, nutty kind of texture, yummy, fab in salads.
