Buenos dias(?)Maria,
What a fantastic idea!! The people that 'know' say that if you haven't worn something for at least a year, you aren't going to wear it again. But in my case that's not strictly true - I have been wearing some summer clothes that I haven't been able to get into for ages!! I will have a 'sort-out' of my winter clothes and will throw out anything I won't wear again. It's soo therapeutic too. Out with the old (and too big) and in with the new!!!
Have a lovely day everyone
Anne xx

Great idea, Spanishlady. I've been meaning to do that for ages, and as the seasons are about to change here, now is an excellent time. Unfortunately it won't be today for me as I've got a lot on - I shouldn't really be on here but YS told me over the phone last night how to fix my busted mouse so I'm just testing it!!

I know about presses - it's a Scottish term too - but I haven't heard it in ages.

You're right about the one year rule, Anne, but I'm rubbish at following it. I work on the keep a thing for seven years and it'll come back in rule. Hence my bulging wardrobes and nothing to wear syndrome.

Have a great day ladies.

Good morning Spanish Lady, Anne and everyone!

Spanish Lady - that's a great idea. I am such a hoarder, so my wardrobe is much in need of drastic action!

Anne - Twiggy says you can keep some things you haven't worn because they can be an incentive to lose a few pounds!!!! I found a lovely tweed suit in a drawer that I bought in 1989 - the jacket is a 10 and the skirt a 12!! I've got a long way to go!

Ladies I need all your positive thoughts today as I shall be eating out tonight. It's my Mum's 80th birthday and we are celebrating at a very nice local hotel, where the food is extremely delicious! It's a four course menu - help!!! We will also be having birthday cake (and I shall try and show you the cake - if ny techie skills don't let me down) and needless to say there will be wine and champagne. I think today will definitely be the 20 part of the 80/20 rule! I'm really glad I've lost some weight - thanks to you lovely ladies - and looking forward to getting dressed up!
This is the cake

Hi Sella_Vee - sorry I missed your post while I was trying to minimise my photo! Your seven year rule sounds right up my street - mind you I still sometimes wear a M&S chunky cardigan that I bought in 1975!!! The 12's were obviously much bigger then, or else it has stretched a lot!!!

I have a problem I don't have anything in my wardrobe that is too big for me yet not too tight but still not too big I am still in my 'safe' clothes. I do agree that I need to throw out a lot of clothes but I am also bit of a horder sella_vee of clothes my OH is always telling me to get rid. I need to be ruthless.have a wonderful evening Alley the cake looks wonderful.I am also pleased for you Ann getting into clothes you haven't worn for ages must be a great feeling. I still want to get into my Black dress maybe for Christmas.

Afternoon flabuless ladies!

Great idea Spanish Lady - I don't have many clothes to clear out as I've only been doing this for a few weeks but I'm sure there are things which are baggy and therefore a no-no to get rid of. I shall do some clearing over the weekend.

AllyL have a lovely evening - enjoy your 20 part of the rule. If you enjoy it, it's worthwhile!!

Cpongrats to you all for losing enough weight to throw your clothes away

Have a lovely day everyone.x

Thanks SL for starting todays thread, good idea, throw out the old, big and baggy, and bring on the new fitted numbers!(does that apply to men too)??

Hi girls.........

I am a bit cousious when it comes to throwing old, big clothes out, Ive been stung by this a couple of times before, saying that, I did have a mini throw out at the weekend, I had to, I had no room to put all my new flouncy stuff in, I will go and have another look tho, to see what else really should go.

Ally, that cake looks too good to eat, I hope you and your family have a lovely time tonight, 80, isnt that the new 50??, say Happy Birthday to your mum for us wont you?

Im glad your looking forward to getting all dressed up, its a lovely feeling.

anne well done for getting back into your summer clothes, what a boost that is.

I know about "presses" too, why they are called that I will never know!

linby, you missed a word out........

Its LITTLE black dress!, and there is loads of time for you to see your hopes come true, and we all want to see the pics.

Patsy, your time will come babe, keep at it, and you WILL get there.

Ive got a few days off now, so I can put all my efforts into PMK, exercising and healthy eating.

Sella Im with you on the 7 year rule, the 1 year is far too traumatic!

I forgot to add that I am facing my big test tonight - I'm going line dancing and it's without wine!! Fingers crossed that I don't succumb to the usual WINE dancing

Have a brilliant time Patsy - line dancing - with or without wine sounds hectic and fun!!
Happy Birthday to you mum Ally, hope you all have a lovely evening.
Sella & mjm - maybe you're right - I would have worn all of them at some peiod in the 7 years 'WEIGHT ON - WEIGHT OFF' - in the words of the Karate kid.
Linby - LBD!!!! and how gorgeous you will look too
Anne xx

Patsy, you will have a lovely time at Line Dancing - after the fun of the first dance, you will forget the lack of wine and giggle (possibly do some sober stumble's too) the rest of the night away.

Ally, your cake looks lovely, a big Happy Birthday to your mum and remember "you are not on a diet" as long as you stop eating when full - you can eat anything...

Spanishlady - you inspire me, things are a little loose, but I'm not brave enough to throw them out yet (seems like tempting fate!!). I have now however, gone threw my underwear drawer, my mum will be spinning in her grave, I havn't actually got any underwear good enough to get knocked over in!!!

John Lewis and that scary lady with the tape measure, here I come - I'll be fitted and matched underneath by Monday.

I do agree Ann1005,Sella_vee, mjm and Lindby, It's nice to squeeze back into clothes that you haven't worn for 6-7 years - who cares if they are not the currant style, just call it Retro!!

Have some well deserved fun ladies

xx

Line dancing - I think I'd need a glass or two to get me on the dancefloor, cos I've got two left feet LOL! Patsy you'll burn off loads of calories - have fun!

Girls,I will pass on all your good wishes to Mum and tell you all about it tomorrow.

AllyL have a lovely time tonight and best wishes to your Mum - bet she's excited too! Patsy, good luck with the lie dancing - I tried it ut kept going the opposite way to everyone else! Sella, I dug out some items that I put away a couple of years ago, becuae they didn't fit - and now they do! so if you really like something it's worth holding on to it! I did have a clear out about a month ago - lots of stuff to the Salvation Army, including the bagggy trousers and T shirts.

Also, it had never occurred to me that any of the charities would want old undies, but bras especially are really appreciated apparently....

I am finding it hard not to pick at the moment - not sure why. Perhaps I need to get back to listening to the CD to get motivated.
