Hi All
I am new to the forum and I need some advice on a wedding outfit. The wedding is in January on the coast and will be quite a posh affair. I am at a loss to know what to wear or where to shop for the best outfits. Any suggestions would be gratefully recived!

Hi livvie, pleased to meet you, and welcome to the forum.
I would be ill advised to talk fashion with, am hopeless.
January on the uk coast is going to be a bit chilly tho, I think, thermals, fur lined boots, and kagool might be the order of the day!!
I take it you are going somewhere warm???

Livve,
WElcome :-)
I love shops like Coast,Lk Benette also Debenhams and John lewis have a variety for all pockets.
Why not try a larhe store with a personal shopper,im sure doing that would be a great help although ive never tried one :-)

HI livvie and welcome ----my youngest lad got married 4 days before Christmas 5 years ago....so very similar time of year ..I admit to getting my outfit from the Jacques Vert range in Debenhams....a lovely dark Christmassy red..big hat - the lot!!!
I always used to think the J.V range a bit fuddy - but really isn't any more so could well be worth a look especially for a posh "do". Good ,luck....would love to hear what you decide on

Hi Livvie, welcome think you'll enjoy it here, I do, You don't say if you are a guest or family, will you be on many photos? this seems to determine a lot in my opinion, if it's close perhaps try the smaller more exclusive shops, less likely to find someone else in same outfit, one of my D got married at the end of December and I wore a long dress with sleeves a jacket imitation feathers same colour, and a silk scarf in a bright clour hanging down the back, Good Luck

Hi Livvie
Welcome to the Forum... mention clothes and you will also get a fab response!!
I'm going to a wedding in February and am wearing a thin, floaty dress.... but I have to say it is in Johannesburg, S. Africa where it will be their summer!!! Sorry.
Hope you manage to find something really special - there are lots of lovely places around.... depends if you want OTT, formal, smart, hat etc.etc. Will be fun looking anyway.
My Step daughter is getting married in May so I will soon be having your predicament!!
Good luck and happy shopping - keep us posted!

Marsha, your red outfit sounds just the thing! I need to find something for a wedding in November and although it's not going to be a terribly posh do I want to look as though I've made a special effort. I think there's a Jacque Vert factory shop a few miles away so I might start there as it's something I may only wear once or twice.

Hi Livvie, I am new to the site too. I got married this Feb, but did not want the usual white wedding thing as this was my second marriage, and wanted something I could wear again to another posh do. I went to a local boutique and bought a 2 piece with a fur wrap in matching colour. I also think Monsoon is a good place to look.

I would advise a two piece dress with jacket. You can look smart and slim in the photos in whole outfit and then remove the jacket in the evening. A very smart friend did this and she added a long floaty multi coloured scarf in the evening too.

I'd really recommend a personal shopper - i'm getting married in November and went with a friend to Debenhams. What a treat! We had a lovely time and I bought a dress that i wouldn't have considered if i'd just seen it in the shop. So impressed that i took my mum a few weeks ago to get her ' mother of the bride' outfit
