Perfume
      #192390 - 11/09/2008 20:10

I love perfume, feel naked if I go out without it, but can never smell it after I've put it on, though other people have said I smell nice! Help, I've tried lots of diffeent ones, what am I doing wrong?

I'm not sure you're doing anything wrong. I use it daily and can smell it initally but not the whole time. If I could I'd wonder if I'd put on too much. If others can smell it it must be ok surely.

It's just that your nose gets used to it, so you can't smell it but other people can.
The mistake to avoid is to squirt on more & more, so that you CAN smell it, & gas everyone else in the process!

I can never smell perfume on me either, it is so annoying. I tend to buy the whole range of a perfume, shower gel, body lotion and deo to ensure every now and again I may get a whiff !!!

I always thought it was a good thing if you couldn't smell it as it meant that you hadn't put too much on. I don't think you are doing anything wrong!!

I can't spray perfume on my dodgy skin - so I spray it on my hair when I'm all ready - I'm sure you get a "clearer" scent that way as the perfume isn't mixing with skin "scents" - and I can definitely smell more of a hint of my perfume that way.

I can never smell it on me either but I can when I take my clothes off to put in the wash.
I agree, I think your nose just gets used to the smell.

I had a try of Estee Lauders new perfume Sensuous, it's gorgeous!
I'm going to buy some today in Debenhams as they have 10% off E.Lauder at the moment.

Know what you mean - you spend a FORTUNE on lovely perfume and you don't even smell yourself after ten minutes! My absolute favourite is Chanel Mademoiselle but I do wish I could have the lovely smell for ME!

I am the same will not go out without perfume on.

They say the best way to put perfume on is to spray it infront of you and walk through the spray...

I am using Paul Smith for women at the moment and you can smell that on you all day.

Shadesoflilac, that's what I use as well...and most people comment on it...the Americans say that you have to 'layer' perfume which means that you need to use, the shower gel or the body lotion as well to get the fullest effect. Not always possible though at those prices!

Many thanks for all the reasurance, I'm going to try spraying my hair and in front of me. I feel so much better and perhaps I'm not wasting my money.
