I would love to hear about everyone else's holiday. OH and I escaped without the children for 3 nights in Bruges (went by eurostar) Brilliant time, very easy and relaxing, everyone spoke English (as being the most common language for all the tourists) Very pretty town, loads of walking, very interesting museums. Felt very safe and would encourage arty teenagers to visit alone as a 1st adventure!

Hi lizalou, Bruges is definitely on my wish list as it sounds lovely! Kazann, My OH and I were in South Africa as well in January. Fantastic holiday- had an apartment near the V&A waterfront while we were in Cape Town then we hired a car and travelled the length of the garden route visiting some fabulous places along the way. Highlight being a luxury safari at Shamwari Game reserve, a real privilege to see the wonderful animals behaving naturally with plenty of spaces to roam. In May I had a week away with my Dad in a lovely villa in Corfu. We had a quiet but enjoyable time- Dad enjoyed the roads up into the mountains! Also in May I had a very romantic few days with my OH in Paris to celebrate our thirtieth wedding anniversary, lovely time but so expensive. Then in June I went to Marseille with my ED for a couple of weeks exploring and sunbathing. Every holiday very different but very memorable! Not sure when I will holiday again as Dad's health not too good now, usually as soon as I come home I am planning the next one!

Went to eurodisney with kids in Feb on Eurostar, Med cruise in May (kids enjoyed it more than me I think) and just back from a week in Cornwall. Enjoyed all 3 and got to spend the divorce settlement somehow!

Went to Sharm El Sheikh for a bit of winter sun in January. Madeira in May - weather a bit disappointing too much like home. Going to Majorca next weekend (now desperate for sun). Planning on going to Dubai in November (for more sun)

Just got back from Majorca (Puerto Pollensa) which was fantastic - weather superb - its where the sun has been hiding!! About 30 deg each day.
A few days before that we went to a wedding in Italy which was wonderful - went over the Bank Holiday and again found the sunshine.
Shame the sun cant find its way to the UK - its not far from Europe!!
Now looking forward to a trip to Jo'berg and Cape town in February 09 for a wedding. Guess my tan will have definitely faded by then!!

April in Menorca - fist visit and very pretty and a welcomed bit of warm sunshine. Fresh fish straight from the boat was a bonus. Then a week in Kent in July - weather and accommodation a disappointment but we visited lots of lovely gardens and Rye was a real pleasure! No idea where next ...

July in Dartmouth, and I think we had the only sunny week this summer. We had a lovely house and my sister and her 7 year old son came over from California to stay as well. We get to go over there next year!

Just come back from two weeks in Brittany - the weather was pretty awful and my OH and I ended up organising everyone (9 of us in cottage) and have come back exhausted and with everyones sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers to wash!!!! OH and I went to Goa in January which was absolutely fantastic. Lovely place, lovely people and lovely weather. Would recommend it to anyone. Next year no self catering with family (done that for past five years). Just the two of us with 15 year old stepson on all inclusive holiday somewhere sunny. Any suggestions anyone? AnnieJo

I had a wonderful fortnight in Sri Lanka - went for a wedding - both bride and groom from Sri Lanka - wonderful experience as the wedding was over two days. Got to wear a sari - lot hotter than I thought, but felt very feminine even when held together with lots of pins - not just me - everyone uses them apparently. Was determined not to let the side down by trailing yards of material behind me as I walked!! Also had a week in south of France - 9 of us in a lovely village house - as this included both my sons, DIL and 2 granddaughters - lovely. Going to Honk Kong in Dec to visit ES and family for Christmas, so a well travelled year. Cheshirelass

I went Cruising in February (for people who don't do cruising) and had a fab time. Visited so many places in the Carribean/Central America. Would now like to go cruising again. Interested to know if small children enjoy this sort of holiday? (age 3/6) Visited the Isle of Wight in June because we have never been there and enjoyed exploring, but weather not good. All of our family are going to Eygpt for Christmas (Sharm) and I am wondering if the weather is going to be OK. Should I have booked for the Canaries instead?

We haven't had ours yet. We start them this coming weekend.
Haven't booked anything, as we usually just throw a bag in the car & go where the fancy takes us, & not going abroad as we're taking the dogs. So I think I'll be packing wellies, woollies & waterproofs.

Silkpainter - I took my children for a cruise in May. They were a little older though (12 & 14) and they loved it. There were younger children on the cruise and they all seemed to be enjoying it. Went to Med with island cruises. Very informal and even had kids club for younger ones.

Silkpainter OH and I spent New Year and first week of January in Sharm three years ago and the weather was fantastic. Not too hot, nice gentle breeze and not a cloud in sight. I am sure you will have a wonderful time. AnnieJo
