Hi SBQ. What a great idea. Should cut down on the travelling for you. Good luck with it. Did you get the last person who left a post on the EBC who also lived out your way. If not let me know and I'll PM it to you.

Regards

How far is Bathgate from Stirling then, I live in a place called Menstrie, and nearby there is a great Farm/Coffee Bothy, delicous snacks, sweets, lovely shop to browse in and good place to chat, but may be too far, or where would suit you?

I work part time, so working tomorrow (fri), ideas to you SBQ and Katz, look forward to hearing from you soon. I will be online again over weekend.

Hi SBQ and cherryblossom,
Cherryblossom you and I live very near to each other so maybe be could travel together to meet up with SBQ as it is a bit of a distance for her to travel from Bathgate to the Coffee Bothy, lovely though it is!

What about Linlithgow or Falkirk It would be easier for SBQ to get there.

Any one else interersted in joining us and make a suggestion as to where to meet?

I am on holiday at the moment but return to work on Monday 15 and work Monday to Friday. however can organise days off if it suits others to meet during the day.

Am off this week to help move youngest to uni and struggling with it!!!!!

If Falkirk suits us all, can we agree this and then look at a day, date, time and venue?

I work Monday to Friday but available evenings and weekends, also have days which I can take off, so will try to accommodate to fit in with others.

Anyone want to suggest a date?

Ok...we're getting there
How about a Friday afternoon?? to start with

I only know the Howgate Centre or a restaurant/bar called Behind the Wall?
It's a sort of Mexican themed place but has a nice conservetary where we could sit? and a lot of ladies go there.
Other than thatI'm not knowledgeable about Falkirk, but if you know of somewhere, I'm happy to go

I'd like to make a suggestion about the books??
How about we all bring the title and author of a book we would like to read...put it in a hat? and chose one ... that way we all know what the next 3-4 books are going to be? It also gives the group an idea of what our likes/dislikes are.
It's just that at the Edinburgh Book Club that seemed to be our biggest challenge...picking the book!

Hope to see you all soon

Hello SBQ,

Unfortunately I work every friday, and cant change it as its my Rostered day. I hate being the one to spoil a good idea to start with as its taken a while to actually get going, if you guys want to carry on then do so I totally understand it is not going to be easy to suit everyone.

I can do a tuesday afternoon, wed afternoon, poss thursday, but cant manage thurs night, if this does not suit anyone again just organize something and I will have to join when I can.

The idea about all bringing/suggesting book title is a good one and a very fair way of doing it.

Will wait to see what you all decide

I can certainly pick you up cherryblossom so don't worry.

I can book some time off for a Wed afternoon. How about 8 Oct or 15 Oct. If you let me know which date suits asap I can see about organising the time off.

Liked the idea about us all bringing a book title and putting it in the hat.

Also agree with venue Behinds the Wall, the conservatory is a good place to meet.

Went to a book reading on last thursday night, by Val McDermid. She was excellent and would recommend her to anyone.

Hello SBQ,

Well at last, it all sounds good to go, only thing that could put a spanner in the works is if I get a job interview, looking to change job closing date for application is 1st october, but it is highly unlikely to clash with the 15th, so fingers crossed its definately a date. Will Birdy be putting a book title in the hat though? the more choice the better I say!

Well Katz looks like we are on for the 15th, can you let me know if its still ok for you to pick me up that day say around 1145-1150ish??

Look forward to hearing from you and seeing you soon SBQ

Hi, Cherryblossom and Superbakerqueen, really sorry to say that I cannot make it Wedmesday 15th for the book club as I have to go into work due to absences and sickness which has left the office with almost no one in it!

I could manage an hour or so at lunch time, but aware that you are currently carless cherryblossom and so will be unable to get to Falkirk and as I work near Falkirk, wont be able to give you a lift.

Really sorry about this ladies as I was looking forward to meeting you.

Hi Katz and SBQ,

Katz dont worry about it, I am in the middle of studying for my interview on the 24th. SBQ I know the other lady from your area could not make it either for the 15th. Shall we try and schedule for another time that suits everyone, so we start with the whole group. If I was lucky to be successfull in getting my 6month secondment post then unfortunately its full time, at the moment I am part time, then it could be difficult. But I feel we should try and persevere and get together even if we manage something before christmas. Any idea's ladies??

Look forward to hearing from you soon.

I know the feeling Katz...we're getting into THAT time of year so start taking those vitamins!!!!

As long as we all keep in touch we'll come up with a date, I'm sure ...What about November?

See you all soon

Hello SBQ,

I am sure if we all keep in touch with regular posting we can get something organised. Even if we dont manage anything before christmas then we should try and make a firm arrangement if we can for the new year.

Unfortunately at this time of year things start to get busy dont they. I certainly have alot on in nov/dec. I have a family gathering early december and in november too.

Will definately keep in touch and I am sure we will get there eventually, and we will probably enjoy it all the more. Thanks for your good wishes re my interview

Talk again soon. Best wishes to you too Katz.

Hello Everyone,

Good to hear from all, and although I had a good positive interview as the job was a secondment post a girl got it who was doing the job already, but the nurse manager said I had to keep eyes peeled as some permanent posts will be coming up soon, so at least it has got my face and experience out there, plus dont have to travel to Edinburgh 5 days a week now phew !! With a view to meeting up I am pretty full on now until the festivities, but if you all get a date, then I will see if it fits in with my ever hectic calendar as I would love to meet you all soon. Please keep me posted girls.

Good to see you online Birdy, wow what alot of books you got through on your hols !!

I don't mind getting together before Christmas but I know a few of you have lots to do in the festive season....so I'll go along with the general feeling...(who says I'm a sheep...Baaaaa)
I think a more important question is ...Where?
Do we want to meet in our homes or out?
If out then...in a bar or cafe or restaurant or somewhere else if you know of somewhere!

Does anyone have strong feelings about this???

Looking forward to meeting everyone

Hi, all.
I'm up for a meet before Christmas and don't mind travelling to the centre at Livingstone. Now the big question - what day and time? Weekends or evenings are better for me as I work Monday to Friday though I do have time owed to me so can do some negotiating. However I did this the last time we tried to set up a meeting and ended up having to cancel as I had to go into work due to others being off.

What do others think?

Happy to go to the new Livingston Center...so does that mean we have a place????? now just a time and date!
I propose 7.30pm...does that suit anyone??

Keep in touch

What about.................combining the book and the supper club??
We could meet at livingston...go for maybe pizza? then discuss the book or our choices of books!
Even if it was just for this one meet so we can at least get started...and when we meet we can sort out any other arrangements face to face?!
There's plenty of places to eat if pizza's not your thing...just thought finger food would be less formal...the choice is yours ...

I can make 26 Nov or the following Wednesday night. Either suits. Happy to combine both Book and Supper Club. We actually thought about doing that when we met in Stirling and if it gets things moving forward it might be worth it this time. If it's next week are we just going to talk generally about books/ one we're reading???

Hiya...I can make the 26th...so that's 3 definates!
What about Katz and Cherryblossom? are you able to come ?

I think the first meeting was to be about just meeting up and bringing a book suggestion...ie. put a book name in a hat and do a lucky dip, that way we all got some input and we had a few books to read over the next few months

Looking forward to meeting you all

Hi,everyone. I'd love to meet up on 26Nov. I know where the livingstone centre shopping mall is but not the pizza place. Is it inside or outside the mall? Will the centre be open later in the lead up to Christmas so we are not likely to be turned out too early? Look forward to seeing you all.

Hi Katz,
Do you know the Livingston Designer Centre.....Mac Arthur Glen? Where you can find the Vue Cinema? Pizza Express is inside the main body of the centre and is open till about 11ish I think!....so we're ok

Would it suit everyone to meet outside the restaurant but inside the centre ( since it's soooooo cold!!!!!)

I'll definitely be there. See you outside the restaurant. I know what Katz looks like and vice versa but how will we all recognise each other? A copy of W&H?

Hi, everyone.
Birdy sorry to hear of your split head. That sounds sore. I'm on for tomorrow. Think I know where I'm going now, thanks for your directions sbq. Look forward to seeing you and Ellench tomorrow. Is anyone else coming? Or is it just the three of us?

Hope you all have a great time - let me know how it goes !
I look even worse today - My top lip has doubled in size and my forehead has a large egg shaped lump and a gash - changing colours too !
I took the dog for a walk this morning and was praying no one would see me!

Oh Birdy that sounds so sore.
I meant to say yesterday that I was sorry that you weren't going to make it but I'm afraid in my hurry to find out what was happening I forgot. Look forward to seeing you next time and I hope that everything is back to normal soon.
