I have just found out that from 6am this morning Travelodge is having a sale. They are selling rooms for £9 each. These are for stays during December and January. The sale is on until 21st September I think. I know it includes weekend nights.
The catch........I cant get on the flippin website to book as the whole world is having a go.
I am going to try and book one in London. Will let you know how I get on.

*****UPDATE*******
Ok I have only just managed to get into the website, but I have done it. I have booked a room in the Isle of Wight Travelodge (going to visit dad) for NINE POUNDS. Thats total, not each. How cool is that.
It was very frustrating though because the site crashed a couple of times but it was worth it. You will need lots of patience if you give it a go, but what have you got to loose?
Good luck.

Bluebell, what is Travelodge like to stay in? I have heard some unpleasant things about the standard's of hygiene?? Want to maybe find one down in Kent for December... so cheap I am thinking of using one.....more money to spend on retail therapy!!!!!

Bel I have stayed in them and they were fine, not 5 star of course but perfectly adequate for the odd night or 2.

I had a terrible experience of Travelodge at Christmas time last year, but I think it was down to the hotel's own staff as opposed to the company as a whole. Mind you, I have written to them (the Chief Exec) 6 times this year and they haven't yet replied, and I have told them I am going to the press if they don't reply to me by the end of September!!! Watch this space......

Hi Bel
dizee is quite right. Travelodge is fine but do not expect 5 star. They are a clean comfortable bed for the night, with the basic facilities you need. I would not spend more than a few nights in one, but have often used them as a base. And at that price you cant go wrong. If you do come down to Kent let us know and some of us could meet up with you if you get time.

I too have been perfectly happy with the lodges we have used. Would it be a good idea for us to post the ones we have found good or awful for others to see? As a start, Reading East and Worcester both clean and tidy, both a little noisy but as travel lodges are usually just off the motorway you have to expect that.

The one just off the M5 in Taunton isnt too clever - there was a "lady of the night" touting for business outside entrance!
The one on the A14 between Bury st Edmunds and Ipswich was really good and if you have a room at the back, not too noisy.
We booked into the one in Milton Keynes for the night and left soon after arrival - was a bit like a doss house and I think probably popular with the stag night members. Booked into Holiday Inn Express in the town which was really clean and efficient - and you get a better than expected buffet breakfast.
Agree they are a lottery and great idea to list good and bad experiences on here. That being said, have also stayed in some pretty grotty 3 and 4 star hotels! Avoid like the plague the Newby Bridge hotel in the Lake District - impressive website but makes Faulty Towers look like the Ritz. A really horrible experience.

I'd swop a working girl for what I found in the Customers Review in a budget hotel in London. I'm working there on Monday so booked into the hotel the company using my services suggested - more a B&B than hotel! Only after I'd booked did I read the Customer Reviews the first of which read, "When we found the rat trap under the bed we booked out". Yuck! sharp exit to cancellation. Have now booked into a Premier Inn - £40 a night more but hopefully will not be sharing my room with a 'guest'. British hotels charge ridiculous prices for rubbish rooms. Travelodges in my experience ar clean and basic.
