How do i get rid of flies in the house ??
      #185880 - 04/09/2008 08:01

Morning Friends

Any ideas what the best way is to kill persistent little flies that are in the house (have been there for the last three days and seem determined not to go) They are probably coming in as its beginning to get colder outside. Any ultra effective fly sprays/treatments anyone can recommend I can buy ??

Sue x

Lillie
I have had them too - they are fruit flies apparently and come out late August September

I had left a wire scubber in the sink with a tiny bit of food on that they were feasting on it!!

Now keep all friyut in fridge etc

Check to see if you have anything rotting -can be plants ( roots /veg) or food and chuck it out!

I bought fly spray but they just fly off some where else!

They drive you scatty!!!

I got one of those electric bats. Great fun to use, and have got a couple, but (excuse the pun) its a bit 'hit and miss'.

Those horrible little fruit flies are everywhere at the moment. I've started keeping all my fruit in the fridge, too, because I found hundreds of the little blighters on an apple in the fruit bowl yesterday.

There are lots of ordinary flies around at the moment, too. Apparently, it's my fault because I don't encourage spiders to loiter. Never mind, I'd rather have the flies any day!

Hi Lille

Swot them with an old tea towel like I do

We get lots of them - I think they're attracted to the compost caddy we keep in the kitchen

I've got a couple of the fly killers in the shape of sunflower that you stick on glass. They definitely work because the window sill resembles a grave yard - not very pleasant to look at but it's better than having them all flying around and there's no smell like there is with fly spray.
