It is our 25th wedding anniversary in October . We had a lovely hotel booked in Antigua but just a few weeks ago we were told it was being refurbished. As it was in our ideal location we did not want to take the less favourable one offered by the travel company so we cancelled. We have still not booked anywhere else. Does anyone have any ideas of where we could go - we are looking for peace, beautiful scenery with some warmth ! Thanks

As someone who lives in Mauritius i can say that October is nice not to hot but sun on your back its spring here then, there are hotels at all prices from good all round to truly luxorious, like the St GERAIN. Pamplemous gardens are lush the black river gorges have some amazing views, the holy lake at Grand Bassin with its temples and monkeys are worth a look, my favorite market is in Maugbourg in the south [ also next TO PAWS were i do voluntary work] The beaches are white and sandy and the sea warm and blue if you snorkle its like putting your head in a tropical fish tank. Seychelles is also lovely, especially La Digue or Sillouette: lovely people, beaches and food. Pretty much the same as Mauritius regarding beaches and sea life, but on a smaller scale. Both are divine.

They really are lovely Stella arn't they - and the in flight food was brill, especially on the return flight.
Quite a few peeps on my trip were going on to Mauritius or Reunion (sounds a bizarre island).
First time I went with BA and it was delayed by 4 hours going and even more coming home (with hydraulic problems): luckily I didnt know that hydraulic meant "brakes" otherwise would have been in a panic all the way back.
Don't make a habit of going to Seychelles, but was at a time when I got divorced and had a big settlement... (now since gone). Went by myself first time (not a good idea to a honeymoon island), second time took my son who was 14 and passed his PADI diving: he loved it.
