Hi Ladies, Can any anyone offer any advice? For the past few weeks I have gone to bed as usual, read before settling, lie down when feeling sleepy, then spend the night lying awake thinking 'I'm still awake' I look at the clock and I find its almost every hr that I see the time!!! Plus recently I find I'm up 2/3 times to go to the bathroom! Come 05.00 I think, oh I have to get up for work at 7 then my body decides its time to sleep!! Not sure if its the Meno as I also get clammy and cold alternately at night!! I'm in my early 50's. Keep thinking bout going to the GP but it sounds so daft, not being able to sleep!! Am sure the GP has far better things to do, and people to see who are actually ill. trouble is its starting to affect my life/work. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thank you.

Mabel, I think popping to the doctors might be wise, just to have a chat, there may be an underlying cause. When you don't sleep it can affect so many things in your life, and makes you feel so rough. The menopause may defintely be a contributing factor, as I too am going thru that, as you may have gathered from my posts! I don't like to recommend you take tablets, but I have had trouble sleeping for years, and I take Nytol, the One a Night Nytol. I don't take it every night, but if I've had a few bad ones I then take one. Just to break the cycle. You can get them from most chemists, tho some only stock the herbal Nytol which I don't find work as well.
I hope you feel better soon, and get a good night tonight.

I'm keeping the florist busy today! Snowy xx

Hi Mabel Go to the docs definitely. Not sleeping is a problem and there may be underlying causes. Hopefully if you have a sympathetic doc, you'll get some help. I have been through menopause, depression and not sleeping is a symptom, as well as the sweats and flushes. I recently moved and my new female doctor has been marvellous. I do recommend taking any tablets that you're offered. You don't have to keep on them forever but they will help I'm sure. I have been given anti-depressants and they have transformed how I feel. Good luck! Tina x
