Do you plan at the start of each week what you and your family are going to cook and eat for dinner each evening?
Or are you like me and spend ages bent in front of the freezer each morning hoping for inspiration to jump out on you?
On another forum I read (sorry, I promise there is only one other) each week everyone posts what meals they are planning on doing, to give each other inspiration.
So, my question, what are you cooking & eating this week? Heres mine -
Yesterday - Roast Chicken & all the trimmings Today - Chicken & sweetcorn pasta bake (leftovers) Wednesday - Sausage, bacon, mushrooms & eggs (all grilled) Thursday - errmm, mmm, uumm, I will get back to you Friday - Butterflied roast lamb rump with morrocan spices Sat & Sun - not sure yet, waiting for the inspiration

Hi Bluebella, see we come eventually!!!! We are trying to eat sensibly Mon-Thurs as from today, as we have a holiday to look forward to in Nov. So we had today: Griddled Fresh Salmon OH's new Potatoes from allotment with olive oil drizzled. Fresh Corn on the cob from the Farm shop (with several pounds of butter melted on the top!!oops not meant to tell you that!) A Nectarine for dessert. Sorry it's not very interesting. Tomorrow its fish, Thurs its fish, then Friday we have something a bit naughty as its Friday night! Snowy x

Hi Bluebell
We had your sausage meal tonight followed by stewed damsons and ground rice - the pudding is not everyone's cup of tea I know - but it was delicious.
Tomorrow because my eldest daughter and her boyfriend are joining us we're having roast beef and all the trimmings followed by homemade lemon meringue pie.
As for the rest of the week - it's in the lap of the gods at the moment - I'm one of those people who waits for inspiration to strike when I'm out shopping. I always manage to concoct something, even if it's only a pasta dish, but I do sometimes think that it would be easier to plan a menu in advance.

My OH is away for the night, so I "slobbed out" with poached egg, mushy peas and oven chips! Yummy!! No idea what we are having for the rest of the week though (my OH is in charge of cooking!)

Beginning of our week-end so flattened some pork fillet and made some mini schnizels, with saute potatoes (from cold ones left over from yesterday), with some crispy fried onions and some of my pot grown haricots... was yummy, but no room for pud.

We're having a use-up-things-in-the-freezer week, as freezer urgently needs defrosting. You really won't want to know what's on the menu, as it'll be a mottley collection of bits and bobs. Ask again next week!

I always start my shopping list by writing out a menu for dinners for the week, and do list from that...wouldn't be able to do it any other way.
Sunday: Lamb Tagine Monday: Chilli Tuesday: leftover chilli with herb bread Wednesday: M&S lasagne and salad Thursday Lemon Chicken ( easy, will be happy to share recipe) Friday Not sure yet 'til shopping done Saturday ditto.

Ok here goes... my menu planning usually never manages more than a day or two in advance and then only if I've cooked something that will last several days.
Monday - venison casserole Tuesday - venison casserole Wednesday venison curry (ok, it was a big casserole, should really have frozen some and I can't face the same meal yet again so out with the curry powder) Thursday - NOT VENISON CASSEROLE!

Bluebell, the venison was a very good price (free in fact) but three nights running is a bit much. I'm looking forward to going back to the early morning stare into the freezer for inspiration tomorrow.

I too stare into the freezer for inspiration, tonight I am eating out at the Hall Place meet with some of the forum ladies, so will stare at the menu for inspiation instead, OH said he would eat on the way home which means he'll get a burger! Monday was spag, yesterday crispy chicken and salad , tomorrow salmon, cous cous (there was a free bag on the sainsburys mag)and salad, friday it's always home made burgers and beer, saturday haven't decided yet but likely to be on the lines of sausage, egg and chips, sunday will be pork loin with a spice crust, briased in orange juice with roasties, haven't thought any further ahead!

Ok, having just read about the bill from The Fat Duck, I'm feeling a bit virtuous about tonight's dinner - lobster and champagne! But all from M&S! It's Mr A's 50th birthday so I'm pushing the boat out - he thinks we're going out, hope he won't be too disappointed ...I think he'll like desert...
