Help - eye shadow recommendation please
      #176802 - 25/08/2008 08:50

Can anyone recommend an eye shadow for wrinkly eyelids. I know less is more as we get older but I feel naked without some eye make-up and need to find a soft, subtle eyeshadow which won't emphasise the creases.

I normally use 'colour me beautiful' eyeshadows as I am a lazy shopper and had my colours done with them some time ago. But I did get a lovely silky smotth eye shadow as part of a clinique gift set recently so would suggest a trip to their counter in your local store.

How about going to a department store or body shop and having a free make over, then you can see what they do and recommend for your age. I hardly wear make up so my wrinkly eyes are not a real problem. But if I did then I would do the above.

I'm a great fan of 'less is more' for eyes as one gets older. I love By Terry eye shadows - available at Space NK shops. Clinique also do some good ones (particularly the creamy formulas). Also use Bobbi Brown, though I definitely find the By Terry even softer and easier to apply.

It does help a lot with creasing, application, etc if you weear a specific 'base' for eye shadow. I like the Laura Mercier ones. I'm often too lazy to apply both a base and a shadow, though - and sometimes weara Laura Mercier base (in Wheat ) as a subtle shadow just on its own.

Thank you ladies. Some great advice here. I've not heard of By Terry so will look out for that. I have read about Bobbi Brown but wonder where I can find it. We do not have many department stores in Devon. Thank you again

Yes i have bought Bobbi Brown on line and I love it. I also treated myself to some Laura Mercier make up which was also FAB. John Lewis normally sells Bobbi Brown. I have not seen Laura Mercier locally only in London and Manchester (selfridges i think)

You lucky people. SpaceNK, John Lewis. No chance. I would have to go to Bristol, about 2 hours away. The best we can muster down here is Debenhams and a tiny House of Frazer. So I think I will probably go with the Clinique and possibly try Bobbi Brown online. Thank you.

Joannie - maybe you could try Body Shop powder shadows? They come in some lovely soft shades and definitely don't crease and go on well as I have just the same problem with the wrinkly lids and have tried all sorts. Also Avon 'Jillian Dempsey' range I like in "Ice Shimmer"

Good luck x Marsha
