DAY 141 WEIGH-IN
      #171071 - 18/08/2008 07:23

Help, I have just weighed myself and after all that effort I am exactly the same weight as I was a fortnight ago.

Why does this happen?

I am now trying to convince myself that I do not need cheering up with toast and lots of butter.

I think I've dropped two pounds (but didn't write down what I weighed last time so am not certain. I do know that things are fitting much better (size 14 skirt today, but still 18 top - I've always been upside-down so hardly ever find dresses that fit). Yesterday we were out and had an icecream each - OH has a 99, I had a mango and vanilla but in the end OH had half of mine as I found that I didn't need all of it. Even if I'm not losing much weight my appetite is far more under control.

I'll PM MJM now before I forget...

I forgot! I haven't been weighed for a year (so it's not something I do a lot!) - will do it this evening and PM mjm then.

Gilley, STOP NOW! THINK !

Don't worry about your weight...you could use the tape measure and check how waist and hips are looking. There was a fortnight where I didn't lose any weight, but my waist was 3" smaller. This time, again I haven't lost weight, but my hips are 2" less, and when I look at myself in the mirror, I no longer see someone flabby and puffy looking, I look quite well rounded still, but quite trim and compact as well, so I think I'm replacing fat with muscle. People are really noticing the difference in my appearance now, so it's not just my imagination.

Remember you CAN have the toast if you are hungry for it, eat it slowly and enjoy it, but don't have it to comfort yourself for not losing weight as then you won't enjoy it and you'll feel rotten afterwards!

Perhaps the next weigh in will be better for you. I sometimes think we are too fixated on weight though - when I was younger, I knew all my measurements, but didn't have a clue how much I weighed. And weight can fluctuate hugely depending on water retention, atmospheric pressure and the scales!

Gilley, don't despair! You haven't put any weight ON! Listen to valaber - excellent advice.

It's only day 6 for me, tehcnically, I'm really pleased so far as I'm certainly eating less and trying to eat only when hungry. Did slip up yesterday when offered yummy walnut cake - but it WAS only a small slice and I would have felt rude not eating it. We were visiting a friend's daughter and partner who are getting married just before Christmas. OH is doing the food for them, so considering most of the conversation was about tasty starters, delicious main courses and to die for desserts, I think I did OK!

Morning everyone. I have been on the scales (the ones I used for my first weigh)and I am the same as gilley I have stayed the same, However I have eaten more choice over the last two weeks than before if that makes sense? I have not deprived myself anything but did stop when I was full.I feel lighter not ''Blown up'' as much but the weight is the same. I am not dispondant I know this is early days yet. I have had a lot of stress the last two weeks, and things have got better my mother in law has gone home (bless her she's loverly)we have a new chef in the cafe and family have calmed down after the funeral. Well done to all who have lost weight and remember the next two weeks have just started. I am still positive and I look forward to all of your support. Come on girls we can do this. Valaber thanks for the tip on measuring I will do this later on.
Have a great day all of you it's raining here in Hull.xx

Gilley, don't despair, and don't give up. These things happen to all of us. It is really demoralising (that's why we don't weigh ourselves too often) when the scales don't seem to be moving but you'll get there. I was disappointed with the solitary pound I lost this fortnight but like AllyL says - at least we haven't put weight on.

Wise words as always from valaber. We are all too fixated on our weight, so good for you Patsy. As Chrissi says, part of our success is feeling more under control. Like you, Chrissi, I am built upside down. I think I did too many of those "I must, I must, improve my bust" exercises when I was younger. I look fine from the back.

I had a great compliment from OH this morning. When I came downstairs he gave me a hug and said "You look really skinny this morning." That made up for my disappointment on the scales and set me up for he day. Note to fellow Flabuless Forummers: all things are relative - you'd be looking at me for a very long time before you confused me with Twiggy, however I have lost over a stone now so I suppose I do look "skinny" to him.

Motning, intlw, you posted while I was composing my message. I'm sure your words will help gilley. Glad things have got better in the cafe.

You know ladies, you are all so wonderful. I feel better after reading your posts.

Today is really my first day - although I have been practicising with the rules since my book arrived. I read yesterdays post before I went to a BBQ birthday party and I did exactly what had been suggested, I took some lamb, potatoes and salad and didn't go back. I ignored the dips and the crisps and I volunteered to drive so only had a diet coke. I had a great time and didn't feel that I had been deprived.

I will make sure that if I'm feeling bad about what I eat or how much I weigh then I will ask you lovely ladies for help and advice. I feel even more hopeful about PMK than I did before.

Thanks to all of you.

Well done Spanish Lady and Sella Vie, and well done all of us - especially Patsy for following the rules so well! For me, one of the great bonuses is that I can now pull my stomach in...not flat, but in!

Good afternoon girls,

Thanks everyone who has PMd me so far with all the lovely messages that come with your weights.

I have read thro all of this thread and it really does warm my heart, this is exactly why we are still together, the advice is second to none, the support and encouragement is fabuless, I know for sure that if I was on my own doing this, I would have given up at my first "no loss", but like you girls have said it it so much more than weight alone..

Its about control around food,

Its about the way you look and feel,

Its about not starving yourself,

Its about enjoying food again, and your relationship with it,

Its about looking in the mirror and smiling back at yourself,

And last but not least, its about friendship!

Lovely, Lovely Ladies,

Where would I be without you.

You have put everything back into perspective. On reflection I do actually feel better about my body with this system, less puffy, more in control, more NORMAL around food.

Congratulations and big Thank you's to everybody - we are all winners

Gilley x

Mjm, you have summed us up so well. And it IS about the support we give one another. I'm sure I'd have given up long since if I'd been doing it on my own. The other thing, and I've mentioned this before, is that we can eat out, entertain etc, and still follow the rules, and if we do fall off the wagon, what do we do ................?

Yes, we get right back on again.

Thanks Perry!

MJM and Sella you're so right..not only do we get back on the wagon, but we can be sure that someone will stretch out a hand to give us a yank back too! Gilley, i;m glad you're feeling better. It is frustrating when the weight doesn't come off, but as long as you're following the rules, you will look and feel better regardless of what the scales say.
