      #170663 - 17/08/2008 17:18

Hi, I moved to York recently after separating and wondered if there was a walking club or if anyone enjoys cycling in the area?

HI greekgirl,
No I have not had any replies yet, but Malton is not very far from York so we can definitely organise some walks. I will see whether other people reply in the next few days.
I read your comment in the main forum about Mamma Mia- I saw it with my daughter also and I defy anyone not to enjoy it! Thanks for replying.

Hi Christi,
Well that is three of us now, which is great. I think that it will be weekends only as I work if it is a long walk, but what is to stop us from having an evening walk? The evenings are still light for a while and I am sure that we could plan something for early evening. It is great that you replied.

Hello All,
Well we have four people now, which is great. What sort of walking do we all like to do? I am happy walking the moors etc but I am happy walking around town e.g. along the river in the evenings. Perhaps we should plan to meet for coffee and chat? Since greekgirl lives in Malton- we can either meet in York or nearer to Malton. I am busy next Satruday as I am making myself do a carboot sale on the race course- am a bit scared of doing it alone, and it was cancelled this week because the Knavesmire was so wet!! do you want to get backto me with suggestions?
Lizanne

Hi Greekgirl, Christ, poppyfield and Beth,

I can make evening of Friday 5th, morning of Saturday 6th or any time on Sunday 7th? Central York sounds fine to me and I am really pleased that this forum has worked. Greekgirl- if you are coming frommalton. I live not far from the Malton road , so you could park at my place and we can walk into town together-also the bus goes right past my door! I live only five minutes from the centre. I guess Northallerton is north of York -if you need anywhere to park then th esam applies, Beth

Hi ladies
I would be interested in joining you for walks. I live in Harrogate but I am in the process of separating from my boyfriend and I am actively looking for accommodation in York as I work here.
I am free to meet pretty much anytime this weekend, including Friday evening.
I've never done any walking before but hope that won't be a problem.
Cheers Anne

Hi everyone,
Sorry this post is last minute- I am going to suggest that we attempt to meet for a coffee on Sunday, September 7th at 1130 in the big Starbucks on Coney Street in York, I will be reading a copy of the Observer, have blond curly hair ( and will be looking at everyone who enters!)- and will be wearing a brightly checked scarf- feel like a spy- but hope someone can make it-

Morning Lizanne
I can make Sunday at 11.30 am. I've got short dark hair and quite petite but no idea what I'll be wearing as I'm not that organised!
I look forward to meeting everyone.
Cheers
Anne

Hello everyone
The Sunday arrangements are fine with me. I am about 5ft 6ins with mid brown hair to my collar. I don't know what I'll be wearing but probably a mac if this dreadful rain continues until then!

Hi Beth

Myself, Lizanne and Poppyfield met on the Sunday and we had a nice chat about the kind of walking we would like to do, where we would like to go etc. Lizanne is going to post details of our first walk which we were hoping to have on the first or second Sunday in October.
I hope you will be able to join us.
Cheers
Anne
