Hi Blubella and all the other ladies who contributed to my original thread! Just back from the Sensatori and am pleased to report that, overall, we had a lovely time and are very relieved that we didn't cancel. My two main gripes were having to get up very early to get sunbeds for the day (7am - felt like getting up for a day going to work!) and overpriced drinks at the Hotel (full board but not all-inclusive). The actual Hotel was great - lovely restaurants, a 5 minute walk from the sea and the couple of organised excursions which we went on through Thomsons (a trip to the former leper colony of Spinalonga and a day out horseriding)made a nice change from sitting by the pools and were really enjoyable. Crete is a great place and we certainly hope to make a return visit in future years. Spangle

Hi Spangle. If you have not already read it Victoria Hislop's The Island is a novel set in Spinagola and it was a Richrd & Judy summer read and so very enjoyable. Glad to see you back.

Hi Vicky!I'm in the middle of reading "The Island" at the moment - what a brilliant book! We visited Spinalonga when we were in Crete - it was so sad walking round and seeing where the lepers ended their days, and a very sobering experience too. It's nice to be home again though, and thanks for the welcome back!

Hi Spangle, I'm so glad you enjoyed your holiday - I was wondering how it was going. Unfortuately the sun bed dash seems to be the norm in a lot of hotels if you want to get a decent space, and the hiked up drink prices. We loved Elounda and used to lay on the beach opposite Spinolonga, it was beautiful, like a swimming pool and perfect for kids. I also read The Island and it's one of my favourite books, especially when you can relate to where it is set. I sat reading it balling my eyes out in one bit, goodness knows what I must have looked like!
So glad you enjoyed yourselves,
Bluebella

Glad you all had a lovely time, we have been to Crete, near to Elounda, and loved it!
Agree that it seems to be the norm these days to have to get up so early to reserve beds. But have to say our trip of a lifetime to The Maldives last year meant our own beds outside our beach bungalow and nobody close to you at all. Heaven!
Have also visited Rhodes and went to the sister resort to the one in Crete, loved this one too.
