Leicestershire Walkers September
      #168809 - 14/08/2008 22:16

We had a lovely walk in August at Bradgate Park and despite the torrential rain during the day we managed to dodge the showers and the sun even came out for us! Thanks to everyone who joined us.

Carole Harriman has suggested the following for September and I've copied her post onto this new thread.

*********************************************************
Thanks for the walk on Tuesday night, it was great to meet you all.

How about a walk around Calke Abbey (NT property) in Ticknall on Tuesday night 9th September. Meet at the Staff of Life(pub in Ticknall) Car Park at 6.00. That should give you full time workers time to get there. We could have a walk and pic nic again.

If anyone wants directions, please let me know.

Hope to you see you all.

Carole
**********************************************************
I'll leave Carole to organise it and I'll start by saying that I'll be there!

See you all in September

Penny

Ticknall is so close to me!! However I work Tuesday afternoons so cannot guarantee to be home by then. What time are you meeting?? Market Bosworth also is reasonable distance. Am also awaiting details of next Lichfield supper meet - as we have liaised before Val. Hope to see you one day.

Carole,

unfortunately i may not be able to come out next Tuesday after all. I checked my work diary and found that I have a meeting in Derby next Tuesday afternoon and have to take a colleague back to glenfield after it finishes so I may not be back in time for 6pm. Can you PM me with your mobile phone number so I can let you know on the day whether I will make it or not? Sorry

Penny

Looking forward to our walk on Tuesday night 9th September, hope to see as many as possible. I shall be parking outside the Staff of Life Pub in Ticknall, and shall be there at 6.00 pm. Black KA car. The walk I have planned is 6 miles, but could be cut short to 4 miles, if desired. We can stop somewhere in Calke Abbey for a pic nic, there are very few seats where we will be walking, so something to sit on would be good. Lets hope for a nice day, and good weather.

Carole

Sorry Carole - I will not cope with 6 miles - 4 miles would be fine, especially as evenings seem to be so dark now so early. Val

Val

If six miles is too far we will make it 4 miles, or we could just go for a stroll down the drive in calke to the house and back, we will decide on Tuesday. There does not seem to be many coming. Don't know why!!

Carole

Hi Carole. Look, I am sorry but with going on holiday on Thursday, and a wedding on Sunday, I am defeated too. I was asked to stay on for more weeks at work (holiday job) and won't be finished till 5.45 so it is all such a rush.
I have suggested Sunday October 5th as our next walk about 10.30 (or afternoon if preferred) or Saturday or..... at Market Bosworth. How do the others feel ? Hi Gill !! Val

Carole

I'm hoping to get back in time but it just depends on the traffic. I will text you when I am on my way and let you know. If I'm a little late I may be able to catch you up along the way

Penny

I seems it may be just you and me, Rosie will try and get.

I will wait until you arrive if it is just us 2, or do you want to cancel. Looking at the nightfall last night, we cannot walk past 7.30 anyway, or it will be black.

let me know if you can, or text and let me know.

Carole
