Calling all divers!
Has anyone been to Malta / Gozo - can you recommend which island and/or dive centre?
Hoping to go in October.
Thank you in advance for any helpful advice!

Hi MancGirl I'm off to Malta Saturday we are stopping in Mellieha, first time in this resort so not sure about diving centres. Will certainly look out for any,
Stayed in Qawra last year and they seemed a few around there but as its not something I've every done could'nt recommend them.

Not a diver but those that are would definitely recommend Gozo. We went over there for a day when we were staying on Malta and it is like phwoooooaaaaaar!!!
It's been a few years since I've been over there now but I seem to remember a good place on the east coast but don't forget to go over to the Azure Window on the other side of the island. Even from a boat you can see about 100ft into the water!!

Have a great holiday Kazann. Let us know what the place is like where you are staying when you get back.

Hi MrsDing, It is over 15 years since I've been to Malta and I didn't dive at the time! I remember the blue waters around Gozo, so I'm looking forward to going back, and seeing it from under the boat instead!

Been back from Malta a week and wished I was back there already, the weather was beautiful in the 90's in the day and it never dropped below 75 dgrees at night. We stayed in Melliaha it was bit isolated but the hotel 5star.we go back in October but I think we might have to use taxis more as the bus timetable changes, especially for Melliaha. I saw a few advertisement for diving but not sure what they will be like! If you need to use the buses you can go anywhere for 1.16euros. Our evening meals cost more than last year the cheapest we had was in Pizza Hut the average meal was 42Euro they included drinks Cisk is the local larger hope this gives you an idea what to expect Kazann

ES stayed in Gozo this summer and enjoyed it. I last visited Malta 40 years ago when there was nothing at Mellieha except sea, sand and a bus stop! If you wanted an umbrella for shade, you took it with you - but the water was clean, crystal clear and warm. Bliss!

Just back from our diving holiday in Malta, so thought I'd give a little update! I really liked Malta (not changed too much since 22 years ago), but we also found that eating out was expensive - 50 Euros for 2 of us every night (and that's without alcohol)- would definitely look for half board options next time.
If anyone is interested, we dived with a fantastic company, "Maltaqua" in St Pauls Bay. The diving organisation, kit, staff were all super.
We hired a car which was also quite expensive, but it was very easy to get about by car, so we did some exploring on our "days off".
For me the temperature was lovely - about 23degrees - which is about all I can handle! It did rain on one day all day and bits of rain on other days.
We stayed in Qawra/St Pauls Bay - it was ok as a base but not the most exciting place on earth. Would stay in the area again only for the convenience of being near the dive centre.
