FOR WRITERS - flash fiction
      #153496 - 22/07/2008 20:14

How many of you have tried flash fiction? Try and tell a complete story in 150 words? It's a real challenge but great fun - see Myslexia for some brilliant examples...

I had a 60 word story published a year or so ago. They are good fun, I had forgotten. A complete story in 150 words sounds like quite a challenge. Do Myslexia print them? I have not seen that magazine for a long time.

Hi Ashbee, Issi, I have never heard of flash fiction. Sounds like a near impossibility! And must be incredibly hard to write. I cannot even write a short letter to my pen friends, as the amount of pages just grows and grows.... A complete story in 150 words sounds like a tremendous challenge!!! A bit like a film synopsis..... OMG, I just remembered I have actually written several film synopses, which were printed when I worked in film..... but for the life of me cannot remember the names of the films.

Hee hee Ashbee: Here comes my "60-word fiction" as published in Chat, January 2005:

Pole Dancer? (or should I say ploe)

Julie jumped onto the table and grasped the pole. As she slid her hand up she leaned against it and breathed heavily. Her skimpy top felt tight as she pushed both hands upwards, and her tiny shorts strained as the muscles in her legs tensed. With one huge effort she gave a final heave and the patio umbrella was up.

Oh the talent!

Loved it Issi... I have had flash fiction published in womens magazines too.... the one I entered had to be on the lines of a love story... here goes....

Mr Right.
He had dark curly hair that you wanted to crush between your fingers. He had a sensuous mouth that you wanted to kiss. He had dark eyes that looked into your soul and crinkled at the edges when he smiled. He was a caring man, everything she'd ever dreamed of. He was close to perfection. Hw was someone else's husband.

FOOTBALL CRAZY

Sue had had enough. She packed her bags.

"I'm fed up with football, I'm leaving you," she cried.

Bill rose from the sofa where he had been watching a match.

"Sue don't go, I love you."

Sue started to soften.

Just then a goal was scored. Bill stared at the television.

"I missed it!" he shouted.

Sue closed the door quietly as she left for good.
