Good morning everyone. Now that we are into over 100 days, how is your resolve?
If you are feeling that your weight loss is slow, think about the long term.
Are you feeling deprived at all? I'm not, unlike other times when I've been on a diet. It's no more diets for me, just a changed attitude to food.
Are you eating the best food you can afford? Instead of eating lots of junk, enjoy smaller quantities of quality foods. Buy nothing that says diet on the label.
Remember, eat what you want, when you want, enjoy every mouthful, and stop when you are full.
Don't you just love being in control?
Have a great day, Sella

Well said Sella Vee, I just love being in control. I do eat fine quality food now. In fact when I go to work I have about 6 pots of really nice things. Everyone I work with is always eager to see what I am going to produce from my various little pots. The food is always colourful, very healthy and smells devine. I have noticed that some of the others are now following me and turning up with their own litle pots of deliciousness. Todays lunch for me includes, a couple of large crisp iceberg lettuce leaves rolled into a tube and stuffed with nuts, seeds, diced chicken, tomato and spring onion. A very colourfull 5 fruit salad with a no fat vanilla yoghurt on the top. A banana for coffee time this morning, grapes to nibble at throughout the day, and some strips of fillet of beef smeared with carmelised onion and rolled into little roulades just in case I get hungry later. I know it sounds a lot but there is not actually very much of any one thing, lots of variety but not a huge quantity and all fresh and healthy.
Have a great day guys

Sella_Vee, I agree, eating better quality food and less of it is the answer. I do buy good food, but am eating less of it these days. I try to put less on the plate when I dish up so that finishing what is there doesn't mean I have overeaten - I am always tempted to finish everything on the plate (as we were saying on another thread, we are of the generation that was encouraged not to waste and that included 'eating-up' until the plate was clear). I'd like to get to the stage that you described, Sella_Vee, when you felt quite ok about leaving a fair bit of main course on the plate because you knew you had had enough.
Mind you, I am not nearly as creative as you are honeybunny - the food you take with you to work sounds really interesting and delicious. I love the sound of the stuffed lettuce leaves - mouthwatering! It must make life a lot more interesting to have all those little pots of tasty, fresh food to look forward to.
Have a good day everyone. xx

Well, to be honest I never used to think much about food. I would go to the supermarket and get what I needed, usually packaged in plastic with a long shelf life. When we started over 100 days ago now, I made up my mind to do it right and buy fresh healthy ingredients. Big problem, fresh things tend to need to be used in a few days, I found I had loads of things that we did not manage to eat.
Then I got to wondering, what could I do to use things up. I decided to use the leftovers from the previous evenings meal to have for lunch the next day, so roast chicken would be diced and mixed with salad leaves and wrapped in a tortilla, or crispy lettuce leaves. Roast beef would be finely sliced and used as the wrap for carmelised onion, peppers, and thinly sliced baby corn. Smoked salmon would be smeared with a herb and lemon mayonaise and wrapped around fresh asparagus etc etc. The more I tried things, the more ideas I had, and now I seem to spend my life looking at leftovers and trying to come up with a gourmet lunch. I find it satisfying and all of my husbands work collegues are quite envious of the contents of his lunch box which are really tasty, and very different from a sandwich!! They now have a competition to try and guess what he will turn up with, this poses its own problems as I am now finding I have to dream up more ingenious things each week!!

Good morning girls, its brilliant reading all your posts, this really is a life changing experiencs isnt it? I just wish we had done this years ago.
I love eating healthy foods, I have never done so well before, more fruit than I have ever eaten, heaps of fresh veg and fish too. I bought fresh salmon steaks yesterday, and had one of them for my supper, OH doesnt like fish very much, but from now on, its not going to stop me eating it, I just steamed it over my new potatoes, perfect, it doesnt get any easier than that.
I do little pots too honey, I take some fresh pineapple, usually some sort of pasta salad, and sprouted beans, and seeds, all in different little pots, I always take a banana, apple and a muller light yoghurt with me too, well, it is a 12 hour shift!!
To be honest girls, I dont leave food on my plate that often, only when I have had enough and feel full. I use a much smaller plate tho, a breakfast plate which suits my portion size much better.
I am also really enjoying exercising again too, 40 mins on my stepper 3 times a week, and a 5 mile walk with a friend twice a week. I feel like Im investing this time for my future health and well being, I dont want to be a dangerous apple shape any longer!!
I am so proud of you all, well done, I am really pleased you are getting something out of this experience.

I'm certainly thinking about food more in a different way than before. Previously I'd be thinking "I mustn't have" and now it's "I really fancy that and will have some".
Lunch this week's been salad and strawberries mixed with couscous (and a little dab of mayo) as it's quick to prepare and I've gone off bread at the moment. I'm certainly enjoying my food more and not picking.
My OH is out tomorrow night and a few months ago that would have meant picking from the fridge and a meal but I'm past all that and am now thinking about what to cook just for me, it will probably be fish as my OH isn't too keen on it (although I could always get a small portion of fish and chips on the way home - I'd never manage a normal one now).
I'm also trying not to waste food so am going for smaller portions rather than leaving some unless it's something OH or dogs can finish up (damn government - first they tell us we're too fat and then not to waste food!) LOL!

Also forgot to mention - if you like wraps - a whole egg, lightly whisked - pour into a hot, dry non stick frying pan - flip over when lightly browned. Lighter than the tortilla ones Anne xx

I'm glad I've just had tea - otherwise reading these posts would make me feel really hungry! The ideas sound delicious. I'm going to start assembling a collection of little pots!
I am taking more care over what I eat - I've always eaten lots of fruit, but am trying to make sure that I get at least a day, or more, and I've taken your idea Honeybunny about mixing the colours. If I'm on my own, rather than just grabbing a sandwich, I try to arrange something attractively on the plate and take time over eating it. I'm also finding that my appetite is much smaller.
I had another working lunch today - a buffet, but this one had lots of fruit, raw vegetables, chicken pieces and prawns, as well as sandwiches - it was great to be able to skip the latter and enjoy the fresh healthy things.

Evening girls....... I have not posted here for the past few days but the reasons are good....I have been so busy with Covent Garden, PTA, postcards etc that I just haven't had the time. What I can say is I am still here and getting well and truly back on track. My new hairdo has given me such a boost and compliments from OH, S(18) and D(8) have been wonderful. In fact OH said that he was concerned about me getting so much chopped off but now my face is slimmer he thinks it looks great!!! Every morning he says "good morning my sophisticated , young wife!" and I am not exagerrating... I have been really good this week because I know on Saturday I want to really enjoy my food and enjoy the whole experience..... I am even not dreading weigh in next week.... Life is good!!

Well done all of you! It seems we are all feeling positive about our choices, and indeed our lives. Sally, it seems as if you feel like a new woman and your OH thinks he's got one!!
Valaber, isn't it great to ditch the stodge and go for the fresh stuff, but I think the gold star must go to honeybunny for being so creative with her packed lunches. I think we are all going to want to have a peek at your husband's lunch box, honeybunny.
Anne1005, thanks for the tip about the egg "wrap". I'll try that.
ChristinaB, like you I'm trying to put less food on my plate so that I don't waste any, and AlexP it was a big deal to leave so much of my main course the other night but I think it will be easier next time. It helped that we were all paying for our own meals so I was only "wasting" my own money. If someone has provided a meal for me I find it much harder to leave some.
Mjm, you put me to shame with all your exercising, but I'm hoping to dance the night away at the wedding on Saturday, and I may swim in the hotel pool if I get the chance.
I agree that having colourful meals is a good idea. Presentation is important because we eat with our eyes as well as our mouths.
Now I'm off to watch that Diet on the Dancefloor programme in the hope that it will inspire me to do some execise.

Oh Sally, it is so good to hear you so chirpy and upbeat. I am glad you are feeling better and that the new hairdo has worked some magic, and on an even more positive note, just think how much lighter you will be on weigh in day with all that hair gone!!
I have just got back from a mammouth bike ride and I must be half a stone heavier than when I went out as I seem to have swallowed just about every flying insect that lives in Cornwall. Husband thinks its sooooooooooo funny but i just feel sick at the thought of what might be in my stomach. That will teach me not to try and ride and chat at the same time.

Honeybunny, that made me laugh. At least you got lots of protein!
Sal, it's really good to see you sounding more cheerful about the eating - looking forward to seeing the new hairstyle on Saturday! I am going to eat very slowly and enjoy every mouthful...whether I'll eat it all or manage to recognise the full signal is another question!
