Hi Everyone - I think I may have found the answer to my nibbling problem and it may help you, too. I bought some quite strong tasting olives and, last night, when I got home and was about to go into 'Nibbling Phase', I ate a couple and I found that the flavour (which I enjoyed) put me off thinking of other food. Perhaps that's the answer - to eat something with a really strong, savoury flavour? I don't know whether that would work for everyone, but I think it may for me.
(You probably think I am obsessed with olives - I seem to mention them so often!)
Hope you're all having a good weekend - did you enjoy your mini cornettos valaber? xx

I like the sound of olives as I love them too. Also, if you have a strong mint sweet it can put you off eating for a while.

issi, I guess the effect of eating a strong mint sweet is similar to that of brushing your teeth - they say that helps as well (that one had slipped my mind until I read your post!).

Hi Alex, I think you might be right - I often have a dish of olives on the side, and will try that next time I want to nibble! The mint sounds a good idea too issi.
Thanks, yes I did enjoy the mini-cornetto - and was really pleased today to see that the supermarket stock quite a lot of mini ice creams - I think it's a great idea, because you don't have to deprive yourself of the occasional treat, but also you don't have either to eat an enormous ice cream (which I find hard these days) or throw half of it away, which I also find very hard! I did manage to leave a bit of my muesli this morning, but having been brought up not to leave food, learning to do so is really difficult for me!

Valaber, here's what I do with my breakfast cereal, because I have the same issues about food as you, and indeed most of us brought up on waste not, want not: having poured out a bowlful, I immediately put some back. I know that if what's left isn't enough I can get some more, but I'm not wasting any. My portion size has gradually been getting smaller. If I'm having a hungry day I just have a bit more.
Unfortunately, AlexP, I don't like olives, but I find a square or two of very dark chocolate keeps the munchies at bay. Like the olives, it too has an intense flavour.
I had a great moment today. I met up with some friends I hadn't seen for a wee while and one of them said "You've been losing weight!" Yippee! Because I've lost it so slowly, people who see me every day don't really notice, so my pal provided much needed encouragement.
Last night's exercise was dancing to Diana Ross at a concert in Liverpool. "Ooooooooooh, Baby Love, my Baby Love...." We were at Deacon Blue the night before, so that's three concerts in the space of a week. I'm hoping all that shakin' and shimmyin' will have done me good. I certainly exercised my vocal chords.
YS is graduating tomorrow, so I will be away overnight, and next weekend we are off to a wedding. If I'm not on here so much, please don't think I've forgotten you all. I should be able to log on mid week.
Keep smiling, and remember to replace strong drink with strong mints, unless you are at a graduation or a wedding! Love Sella.

Hi Alex, issi and Val, This is the first time Ive sat down and had any peace to myself all day.
I look at the olives everytime I go shopping, I think I have tasted them once before and didnt like them! I like the look of them tho. Great news if they work for your nibbles tho Alex!! I had to be really careful what I typed in then!, we just dont need to go down the road of ploe dancers and nacked men do we??
OH and I went on a bike ride along the Dee side way this afternoon, it was wonderful, it could have been a bit warmer, but never mind, cant have everything!
I am definitely going to be on the look out for mini ice creams, that sound like a good idea Val.
Enjoy the rest of the evening girls, its still a little cool and breezy to sit out in the evening, at least its been dry for a change.

Sella, that's a good idea - I think I ought to try that for everything. I have noticed my portion sizes getting smaller too - but I do have this compusion to finish whatever is on my plate, so that's a good way to deal with the full signal. If I don't feel full, I have resolved to wait a few minutes before topping up - sometimes,I find it takes a while to cut in.
MJM, the mini-icecreams are great - my d. was complaining about how small they are, but I find it's enough.
My exercise today was gardening - first day for weeks it's been fit to get out there. I'm very achey though so will really aim for swimming tomorrow - I don't have to leave for work until 10 am so that gives me time.
Sella, hope you ahve a great time this week ...all this and Diana Ross!

I did a roast last night and noticed that I could still see the white of my plate between the food! Before it would have been heaped up so I am learning about portion sizes. I'll have a look for mini ices this evening - that way my OH can have a full version and I won't feel guilty about joining him.
I didn't get much exercise over the weekend - two very late nights (didn't quite come home to the dawn but not far off due to far too much chatting with friends) so yesterday I acted like a teenager, surfaced for brunch then curled up with a book and eventually got dressed in time to cook dinner last night! I'm still sleepy today but so much more relaxed.

Girls! Be wary of Olives! As much as they are yummy and tasty, they are full of calories and should only be consumed in small quantiites. I fell into the trap of thinking they were healthy but found out that unfortunately are fattening believe it or not!

Ooops - didn't know that JustJules! Typical, isn't it, that something I love so much is full of calories.

You can't beat pickled onions, not the sweet vinegar ones, to take the edge off of those munchies. Doesn't do much for your breath though, it's always about 4-30, when it strikes, just when I'm getting the evening meal ready.
