Ever tried hypnotherapy?
      #142979 - 03/07/2008 16:53

I had my first session last week. Too early to say how it's gone as I have more sessions coming up, though it was an interesting experience.

Have any others of you had good/bad/indifferent experiences of hypnotherapy?

By the way, I tracked down a hypnotherapist with good accreditation, and she is very professional and very experienced. I am hopeful she may be able to help me find the route cause of my anxiety.

I tried it may years ago to give up smoking. When he had finished I walked out of there and didn't smoke for 5 days, not wanting one, not thinking about one. Then for no reason what's so ever I just picked up a packet and started smoking again. I went back but second time failed completely. Although I did manage to give up smoking 5 years later and that was 15 years ago.

I tried it but unfortunately it didn't work for me.I seem to be difficult to hypnotise or perhaps I'm just difficult! I know it seems to work for others though so worth a try.

Thanks for your replies.

I know what you mean about being difficult to hypnotise, Dec. It took ages for me to relax and even then I wasn't relaxed enough.

Well done on eventually giving up smoking Butterfly - I hope you feel LOADS better for it.

I will let you know how it goes Suee - my second session is this afternoon.

Hypnotherapy did help me come to terms with the death of my H. And I remain grateful for that. I also was regressed through hypnotherapy and that too helped with certain issues and it answered some questions. The hypnotherapist was a highly qualified, very sensitive and knowledgeable lady, as well as a lovely person.
Sussexgirl, I hope that your experiences and help will be successful too!

Hi all

my second session with the hypnotherpist went well. Didn't feel as 'sleepy' but felt really relaxed afterwards, went food shopping and it was the first time in ages that I didn't feel jittery and panicky in supermarket. Even chatted to guy selling Sainsbury's gas/elec for ages without wanting to run away. Certainly not yet over my anxiety as feeling it a bit today, but have only had 2 sessions so far....

SG x

He was quite cute!!!

Anyway, have had third session. Didn't do quite as well this time as kept getting mental blocks, but did manage to meet friend afterwards and eat in restaurant without a single panic, and this is very unusual for me in restaurants over recent months. Felt pleased, tho did get a bit twitchy in shop on way home....

I have experienced some life without the jitters since starting my hypno. It will take time, but my therapist has no doubt that I will overcome this anxiety, and I think her positive outlook will rub off on me. I am determined to make this work and because I have experienced a new me emerging, I feel more confident about this than the 6 months of counselling I had before. Time will tell!!

Yes, and it was the best thing ever, helped me with deep-buried anxieties and many things that had previously been tucked away in my subconscious came to light! After the hypnotherapy I became a successful writer - before it I was a depressed housewife!
