SPORTS DAY SUCCESS!
      #138134 - 25/06/2008 12:06

I have just had my second son's sports' day this morning and I felt really proud at him getting two 1st's and three 2nd's, and I thought for once in my life I am GOING to do a mums race but when I looked at the programme it just said dad's race, and I thought oh well not to be then.. The dads had the race and they announced yes you got it "mums race".. And I thought oooo right this is my chance to prove a little something to me.. I', not very confident and I had a lot of saving face to as all my firends from my son's class were there and all my neighbours and those who really think they are above you (you know what I mean)..

And y'know I had forgotten how frightening it feels to do races of any kind and how stupid, my legs were like jelly and I was soo nervous!! And I'M 31!!!!!!! Imagine how the kids feel?? Anyway I didn't come first but I did get second and I was racing against a bitchy woman from my son's class and I thought "for goodness sake whatever you do you have to beat that horrid woman to save face", and the taste of success at beating her was words I can't describe.. Yes a bit childish as a point of view but she really is a nasty cow, and it just goes to prove that you can do anything if you put your mind to it..

REALLY needed to get that off my chest and thanks for listening..xx

Congratulations Spendlove!! Bet your son was very proud of you too and the added satisfaction of beating someone like that must have made it even better. I can only just about walk straight so would never have the nerve to race anyone - I admire your courage and your speed!!

Well done Spendlove. I remember being in the mum's race at my daughter's sports day and seeing my little daughter anxiously willing me to win (or more likely not to make a fool of myself). I just came somewhere in the middle and we agreed that was better than last!

Wow amazing well done to your son and you.
You will of course pay for it later spendlove. Muscles will lock up and pains will appear
I had a vision of this mad lovely woman running the race of her life Well done honey. It is nice to win one over on some folks and once in a while. Yes a bit childish but hay keeps you young But at 31 you are compared to me at 42

dbverycherry, I don't think you are that far in age from mr at 42, and how right you were to say about having aches and pains for days afterwards!!!! Crikey - I go to the gym 3 times a week but I just don't run that fast normally!!!! LOL! By the way I really love your animation in you message - Is that meant to be me or you coz I don't possess a skirt that short or pom poms!!! ha ha ha ha - And anyway does she have any knickers on???!

Well done Spendlove!

I accidently ran the wrong way in the Mum's race when my son was 4 and he forbid me to ever enter a Mum's race again!!!

ps I know it sounds strong, but I'm left footed as well as left handed!

I entered the Mum's race one year and ran for my life but was still beaten by some jumped up younger mum ....I think she may have cheated somehow!

My poor daughter hated sports day but in her senior school was nevertheless entered in a race...she came trailing in last way way behind everyone else and, to her credit and my eternal pride, as she came down the home straight she did a little twirl, waved her arms above her head and jigged her way to the finishing line to massive cheers from everyone! Even the teacher doing the commentating was cheering her on! No prizes but what a good sport she proved herself to be!
