Diamond wedding ideas
      #132186 - 16/06/2008 09:19

Help! My inlaws will be celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary at the end of July. There is no need to get all sentimental ladies. MIL is a bit of dragon, doesn't even mention the name of her 3 month old great grandson, a few years ago was divorcing/throwing out FIL every few weeks, is very bossy and could talk for England!! They haven't spent Christmas with us for over 20years!

But OH and his brother and sister realise that if they don't do something then they will never hear the last of it. Trouble is, they are on the SE coast, BIL is in London and a miserable ***, claiming he has no work and no money with a dog that bites, SIL is in Cornwall and leads a rather hippy life, we are in Devon and as near as damn it normal! BIL thinks he might be in Devon at the time as he is waiting to hear about some work which may or may not happen but then again, it might be Malta!

The outlaws only have 2 grandchildren (our kids) but MIL can't stand ES partner, who is actually lovely but being a typical Aussie, won't stand any nonsense so we shall not get them involved. YS might come but only because he would get a free meal out of it!!

Families! - Who's have 'em. Any ideas? Thinking of Devon or Cornwall for starters.

Having read your description I'd send them away on their own for a weekend - preferably the other end of the country!! I think that they should be grateful that you even feel like doing anything for them.

How true when they say - you can choose your friends but not your family.

It gets worse. Found out if we could hire them disability buggies, so we could do just that - leave them somewhere for a few days. Found out about possible flights from Gatwick to Newquay. Then OH rang them. Horror, shock - it's their 60th next year!! So we are scuppered - going to be lumbered with them for a week at the end of a very busy July!! Still at least we have another 12 months to sort something out and for BIL and SIL to make their excuses! This time might be able to book them somewhere away from us!
