I have been out of the loop for a little while, just popping my head up again over the past couple of days. Had some horrible news. Looks like I have to have a big operation at the top of my spine, absolutely scary stuff. It is probably going to be around October time... so... I've had to pull out of the Forumfest 
Its all made me really depressed and have been feeling very antisocial, just wanted to hide away.
Thats the bad news.
The good news is.. I'm feeling more positive - and I'm going to our apartment in Portugal on Sunday for 3 whole weeks!! Just what I need, I think, I'm sure it will cheer me up no end

expatK, sorry to hear about your operation, and its great to see that you are so positive, these things happen when you least expect them to dont they? I do hope you have a wonderful holiday in Portugal and hopefully you will be as right as rain afterwards. It will most certainly cheer you up. Take Care Plasmo x

Sorry to hear about your operation but I guess its to make you better so worthwhile in the end....
I was looking forward to having a chat and drink with you in York but as Elsie says...next time.

Pat good that you get the operation over and done with and your back on your feet for Christmas. You can put the forumfest girls to shame with your dancing another time! Enjoy Portugal, sun, sand, sea, sardines oh yes and Port.

Good luck with the op, charge your batteries with a lovely break in Portugal so that you are fit to recover. I cant make the FF this time so there had better be another time. I insist. Pleeeeeaaase.

So sorry to hear about your op, Expat - but have a lovely time in Portugal and get well quickly after the op.
The worst bit is probably the waiting and dreading it- don't let your imagination go into overdrive and keep busy between now and then - lots of chatting on the forum is recommended!

Thank you everyone for all your good wishes. I'm not too bad at the moment cos I'm excited about Portugal! Will be busy between now and Sunday as well- OH returns from a working trip to Chile and Argentina this afternoon, and tomorrow we have some friends to stay. Sadly they are leaving Frankfurt for good next week, and we are having a 'leaving dinner' tomorrow night. I am going to miss her sooooo much. I'm sure there will be a few tears  So, this Portugal trip is well timed, in several ways.
About the FF... yes, I agree, there had better be another one!! Vicky, I hope you will have time to organise another one inbetween all your jetsetting and mixing with the stars!
In the meantime we will need LOTS of photos to keep us going, please! We will promise not to use any of them for blackmail purposes! (Says she, with fingers crossed behind her back.... )
