Calibration
      #115271 - 15/05/2008 09:43

The art/skill of checking that something is accurate, right?

So why did I see it spelt "callibration" on the back of a van I followed in to work this morning?????

Sorry, just having a Grumpy Old Woman moment!!

I was going to say that the howlers you see like that would fill a book - but they already have, haven't they?! That Lynn Truss 'Eats Shoots and Leaves Thing' which should be standard text material at all schools, I reckon!

I'm paranoid about spelling and grammar, but that's just me - the way children are taught these days, it's very much more about stimulating the creative flow, rather than bogging them down with pedantic rules and syntax, but having said that, they do still have spelling lessons, at least my two do.

I have just dived out to take a look at the back of our vans,as Service and Calibration is the trade that my OH and I are in,particularly in the weighing trade, covering both Commercial and Retail. We are also the preferred Contractor for the N.H.S.
I do pride myself on checking and reading,(in many cases)even the small print,so was horrified to read what MrsDing had wrote, espeicially as we live in the same district, and our Company cover the whole of the area and more very extensively.

The signage is done elsewhere by a very reputable local Company, but as usual it has to be proof read first, and that is my job!.Had I had a 'senior moment'? Ha,(sigh of relief)No. but thanks MrsDing for that,I shall sleep easy tonight now.

Sorry to panic you AM !!

It was a Gloucester company but strangely I can't remember the name now - just the fact that they can't spell
