Have you used the services of a DEntist abroad?
Would you use them again?what did you have done? What about cost?

Yes, I know I live in North Cyprus but have been using the dentists here for the last 10 years, even before we moved here. Four years ago I had a cap fitted and it was a TENTH of the price of the UK and still going strong.
I know a lot of people who get a flight over here, have a holiday and get all their dental treatment carried out at the same time. The prices have gone up but we pay about £25 now for a clean and check up and she has all the latest equipment.
Every time family visit I have to make them all appointments!

I'm all for good dentistry at a fab price, as I need some work doing. One question, what happens if you get post procedure problems, will a UK dentist help?

Hi Majwii,I've just been to my dentist today and paid £16.80 for a check up,2 xrays and a clean and polish so N. Cyprus seems quite expensive compared to that.Probably more intensive Dentistry costs less over there?

Blimey prices have gone down since we left then!!! Having said that we had a terrible NHS dentist...fillings every time you went....no, they were not needed so we ended up going to a private dentist, who quoted £700 a cap and it was £70 here.
Even NHS, I don't think me or any of my family have ever paid that little at the dentist!! I should hang on to that one decorator.

Yes and he's lovely too and doesn't do any work that isn't needed.I've got to say that I did expect to pay more.Maybe his receptionist made a mistake! I did go to one Dentist who wanted to do fillings galore,that was a few years ago,I didn't have them done and have since had 2 Dentists who have said that I don't need any work doing.It's very wrong when they do that ,isn't it.?
I think I'll head to cyprus if I need cosmetic type work done and get some sun at the same time

Yes, we had the same experiences in the UK, which was why we started having our teeth done here. They told my H that he would lose all his teeth unless he had very expensive treatment. 10 years on and he has all his very healthy teeth and one filling, not bad for a 60 year old! Seder, our dentist here is exactly the same and doesn't do anything unnecessary.
A friend of ours with a rotten tooth went along and whilst sitting in the waiting room (he is a carpenter), he got fed up with their door sticking, so he got his tools from his car, planed the door and extraction was 'on the house'!!

We are thinking of visiting Croatia this year for a holiday. One of the travel agents sites I looked at seems to specialise in 'dentistry' visits. I've been thinking of getting my teeth smartened up so I'm really tempted. Apparently they need a digital set of x-rays and they will give you a quote.

How do you know that you have got a good dentist when abroad? That would be my only concern.

That would be my worry too issi. At least if things go wrong with a dentist here, it would be more straightforward to get things sorted out. Also easier to assess their competence in the first place I suppose.
Either way, I don't think I would be happy unless I was referred via personal recommendation. Anyone had cosmetic work done that they are really pleased with?
