      #112958 - 10/05/2008 11:26

I am a cricket widow on Saturdays and also have some free time weekdays. I would like to find a walking group within reach. If anybody is thinking of starting a group in this area please get in touch.

Hi Sandra-B-B
I would be interested in joining you if you find a walking club in the area I live about 15 mins from the M60 not too far to meet up! I only work part time so am free during the week if that would suit. I think it is a great way to make new friends and also try to get fit as well! PM me if you'd like to get in touch.

Hi Sandra -BB

I think a walking group would be great, I live in South Manchester and would love to team up with you and other interested ladies, Saturday afternoons would be a good start, there are lots of great parks, or how about a walk by the river from Northenden...contact me if you are interested or if you have already started up a group.

Have any walks taken place yet?

I live in Alderley Edge and am fairly new to the area I would like to meet ladies to walk with. I am early retired so could walk most any time.

I posted a response to the website but, thought I would reply to you just in case no one picks my e-mail up.
Have you sorted any walks out yet?
I am fairly new to Cheshire I am based in Alderley Edge and am early retired so have plenty of free time. Would you like to meet up for a coffee and a chat about walking and how to get things started if they arn't already.
Best wishes
Erica

Thanks Helen, Jeni, Silver, and Erica for sending a reply.

Now we have 4 people interested apart from myself maybe we can arrange a trial walk? I am free on Saturday 14 June if any of you are interested?

I decided to post the note this way so we can all see what is happening at first. I can send PMs as well if necessary once we have established several of us can make a date. I am free morning or afternoon on that day or even both, but that might be a bit too much for the first time out!

Hope to hear back from you again

Sandra

I forgot to say I live in Hale so no problems meeting anywhere you have already suggested or elsewhere in the area.

The 14th is fine for me and any time during the day.I note that Silver mentioned a walk by the river at Northenden. It's not a place I have been to yet but, I'm sure I could find it.
Please advise time to meet, length of walk, how we will find each other.
Thx Erica

It seems to have gone a bit quiet, Sandra are you still able to make a walk on the 14th June?
I had a mail from Jeni and I may meet her for a coffee next week to organise something. I would try and arrange something myself but don't know any walks around here other than Alderley Edge and then I get lost in the woods so I wouldn't feel competent of leading anything.
Please advise whether the 14th is a day to work to.
Thx
Erica

Sorry to have been so "quiet" not something I am usually good at. I was away last weekend and then had my daughter staying for a few days but she has just gone. I am still OK for 14 June and keen to go for a walk.

I am free on Wednesday morning if anyone would like to meet up for a coffee as Erica has suggested and discuss where we should go the first time. But if Erica and Jenni have already arranged a meet-up then I am happy to agree to whatever is arranged. As I still work 3 days a week I can not be very flexible mid-week.

I notice Zoe is busy in the morning on 14th but would like to walk in the afternoon and that is OK with me if OK generally.

I will keep my eye open now for any more postings - sorry to have been distracted.

Sandra

Thanks Erica

I will be there this morning. Also with a copy of Woman and Home. I am not sure where Costa Coffee is but no doubt it will be obvious.

See you there

Sandra

Hello North Cheshire/South Manchester Walkers

I met up with Erica and Jeni today for coffee in Alderley Edge and we decided to have our first walk this Saturday 14th June. We thought we should keep it easy the first time.

We have agreed to walk in the Styal Woods / Wilmslow area meeting up at 2pm and if you would like to join us we would be happy to meet you. The meeting place is a car park which serves The Carrs. (It is not the main The Carrs car park marked on the Manchester A-Z as that gets busy at weekends being right by the children's adventure play area.)

The car park is beside the B5166. If you are travelling from the Wilmslow direction the car park is at the bottom of the hill just before Twinnies Bridge. You will notice a low grey stone wall on the left hand side and the turning into the car park is immediately before that.

If travelling towards Wilmslow, after passing Styal Prison on your left-hand side you go down a narrow hill with trees overhead and then over Twinnies Bridge (narrow bridge) that crosses the River Dean. There is a low grey stone wall on the right hand side of the road and you turn right into the car park as soon as the wall ends.

The car park is not marked on the Manchester A-Z but Twinnies Bridge is marked.

We thought we would possibly walk once a month at first until we see the response and then we can arrange accordingly. All welcome to join us of course but if you can let us know you are coming that may be a good idea so we don't leave anybody behind. Let me know if directions not clear.

Best wishes

Sandra

Sorry Zoe (and anyone else who is not familiar with the area)

The Carrs is a riverside park. I notice the place where we have suggested the car park is called Pownall Park on the map but I have never seen a sign in the park itself to say that.

Glad you can come along.

Hopefully see you all on Saturday

Sandra

Hello ladies, I am afraid I am not going to be able to make it this afternoon - I have literally just got in 1.30pm , from my exam ( which was horrendous!), have a splitting migraine and am going to have to lie in a darkened room! Typical - a gorgeous day for it! Please do let me know when you are next meeting as I really wanted to come along! I hope you enjoy the woods!

Am so sorry to let you down - this is the only way I can contact you!

best wishes

Zoe
